I am a student at the University of Alabama and I am working this semester to save up and go to Africa. I was planning on taking an overland tour through Easter and Southern Africa. What have been your experiences, and what countries and activities would you recommend?

If you go to Africa for the first time, I would recommend some places where wildlife is abundant, for example Kruger National Park in South Africa, Chobe National Park in Botswana, Serengeti in Tanzania and Masai Mara in Kenya.

If you want to get off the beaten track, Zambia and Uganda are great places to visit.

Best activity in my opinion is watching wildlife. In many places you can only do game drives but in some places (Kruger in SA, western part of the Okavango Delta in Botswana) you can also do game walks.

If you are looking for adventurous activities like white water rafting, bungi jumping, abseiling etc. Victoris Falls or Livingstone (on the Zambian side of the falls) are great places.
