I think it's either a Whitebacked Vulture or a Cape Vulture.
I find it hard to distinguish between the two, (waiting for the experts!) In this pic (saved by Meaghan) you can see two bare patches of skin at the base of the neck - which is diagnostic for Cape Vultures. The Cape Vulture is much larger than the Whitebacked Vulture which helps to tell them apart when both species are present. I was told that the cape vulture are very rare to find here and if you look at the very dark "face" of this vulture and it's dark eyes it should be a white-backed vulture. I would even think it is a juvenile. The cape vulture has light coloured eyes too __________________

![]() Can anyone tell us what kind of Vulture this is? It's markings are different than the Hooded Vulture. I think it's either a Whitebacked Vulture or a Cape Vulture. Thanks Ingwe and cerinthe,
I was suspicious they were White-backed Vultures, and will call them that until being corrected
