Sparrow thanks for your sequence of pics. It will be the nesting foam of a frog. Did someone give a secure ID of the grey tree frog?

Puzzled Ceri I don't think so...

Ladikara made a topic of it in the watering hole : http://www.africam.com/boma/viewtopic.php?t=2384

Sparrow, i posted some questions re: this to Ladikera's thread in other topic.
Here is what i posted there..So many unanswered questions re: the foam nest ID.
Here is my message:

Laughing out loud I've added my observations to my pics at the Flora ID thread (page 5), maybe this helps to figure out if it is a fungi or a foam-nest...
:!: Please follow the link :!: http://www.africam.com/boma/viewtopic.php?p=93245#93245

sparrow , not one reference has said anything about the nest being ON THE GROUND. The only part quoted above. was 'near the water" but that means UP A TREE which is near the water.

did you notice that it also says..in someone's info above, that it is 'wrapped in a leaf' Where is the leaf?
and i'll ask the same question again, How did it get there? For more than 8 years of watching and learning on AfriCam, we have never seen any foam nests except those on low hanging tree branches..branches that hang over water.
Why would a tree frog put it's nest where any critter can eat it? I was wondering why the ducks and the geese didn't eat the larvae if that indeed is a foam nest??

i must run now. But i am anxious to hear your replies to my questions.
Convince me!
be back later

Is this tree one of those fig trees that was featured on "Nature" on PBS recently?

 Go to Site   olifantsreserve.comww.olifantsreserve

commelinaerecta 33  see page one

poison apple16  see page two

Looking at your photographs I would say it is more possibly poison apple, but going to the above site would give you a better indication having seen the flower your self/

regards

Janine
