Can you help....? We can't use Putfiles or You Tubes.

WARNING: This warning is to all parents, teachers etc. Please do not allow your children to open up or view any Putfiles or You tubes without your attendance. Unfortunately when you go into these two sites to look at some of their amazing videos on wildlife etc, you are confronted with XXX- rated material almost immediately. Some of it is very explicit and easily accessible. KITNES has gone to great lengths and expense to pay web designers to pull a few of the wildlife videos down individually to put on our web site. If you must go in there, we again warn you to please view the video before sharing or viewing with any child. The titles are most deceiving and again you can open up XXX quite by accident.

Kids in the Nest Educational Society does NOT recommend these two sites.

Many of you have just done some really great videos on our Lion pride these past two days. Unfortunetly in our program we can't use them when they are in a Putfile or You Tube format. That is explained above. Is there anyway that those that did them could transfer them over to photobucket...?
All of ours were transferred over some time ago so ALL children could view them safetly. This was first brought to our attention by the school board and one of our experts in our program
Yes I know thats a lot to ask, but we so want the kids to enjoy these to but we can't expose them to what is on those video sites. Heck I don't even want to be exposed to it.

Is this possible...?
Thank You
Ms Charlie

I don't really understand it, because I use YouTube too as my wildlife channel where I upload all my clips on, but I have never ran into XXX material and if you do, you can immediately report it.

You can also use http://www.ripway.com/ to upload your videos. Eye-wink

a problem with youtube, except media putting it down because of a few videos that got through... I have looked a tons of videos on there and have never run into an XXX video. maybe some that have swearing in it, which I am sure those kids use themselves or have heard it from family or friends...I think all that make the videos and use youtube keep doing it.. you post the direct link to the video on here and if they click on that they are not going to any other video except the one you have posted.
If this person is allowing the kids to surf the videos alone then that is his fault not people on here making video clips.

Sorry, I didn't know that post had been moved over here and I somehow missed that thread. My mistake.

Ron, your reply is still there in the "You Tube/Putfile discussion thread" just below this thread.

I didn't realize this thread was here but I saw someone else reference YouTube on the daily discussion thread. I have spent quite a bit of time on YouTube and have never seen anything that would approach XXX rated material. I have seen some language with adult language or what might be considered adult content (but no pornography), but it has been flagged and/or requires users to affirm that they're over 18 to view it. I'm not saying that nothing inappropriate has appeared on YouTube, but my experience is that they do a pretty good job preventing children from viewing that sort of adult content. I don't have a problem allowing my junior high aged students to use YouTube on occasion in class (for educational purposes of course). I can't really speak for Putfile, I don't have as much experience with that site. Someone else made a good point in response to my previous post on the subject, nothing is perfect so children should be supervised on the Net in any event. Anyway, I just wanted to respond to what I think is a mischaracterization of YouTube as a risque site that children should be advised to avoid.

Photobucket isn't a great option if you have many videos. A Photobucket account only gets 10 gig of bandwidth each month. Some of the lion videos I've put up recently already have over 200 views within a short number of days. The average clip is around 4mb, so viewed 200 times that is 800mb of bandwidth from one video over just a few days. It wouldn't take long at all to exceed the 10gig cap at Photobucket.

Would uploads to Google Video meet your needs? That may be a better option.

The problem with moving some of the ones on youtube to photobucket is the size and length of them. Photobucket has a limit of 5 mins for free accounts and 10 for paid. Also, some of mine were recorded at high quality large format and can't be uploaded to photobucket even though they are within the file size restrictions. Sad

I will from now on try to record in a mode that photobucket will accept. Smiling

You guys need to be acknowledged for what you just did here. The fact that you listened read and saw what the problem was….. says volumes about you guys. Clearly our children’s safety is a top priority to you as it is to us.
Africam.com, you’re the BEST.
Now we just hope that all those that have done those amazing putfiles and You Tubes will take the time we did, and re-do them into Photobucket. It really didn’t take that long and heck, this is for kids to see.

THANK YOU

Ingwe....Hats off to ya..we just gave you a A plus....Smiling
