great story- we had a female cockatoo names *piper * she was owned by a lady and was stressed out plucking feathers etc- we picked her up and she came over and sat on my shoulder all the way home- from then on she was my bird- she tolerated women with dark hair- hated blonds- she liked all men- ( i watched a program on them and the bird handler strongly suggested that if your to get one** if your a female buy a male bird- if your a male buy a female bird- i became allergic to her and had to give her to vet- they are very demanding and need hours with their owners-- http://www.petcaretips.net/cockatoo.html - check area in this site about feather dust and people being alergic

Thanks, ladikara, for sharing the heart-going story about the Cockatoo family! It is stunning, the pics are gorgeous.
It's good to know that there are people loving and protecting critters out there!
