cam question......what are the 2 tiny dots on either side of the large tree?

Those are defective pixel positions in the camera's CCD array. They stay in the same spot relative to the margins, as the camera is panned.

(ed. Ingwe's post wasn't there when I started typing this Smiling )

I think they have named them "pixel stars". They are not real stars (although they do look like they are). Maybe another member or a mod will explain what they are in detail.

 Not in detail from me Eye-wink But! have a look at this thread

http://www.africam.com/boma/viewtopic.php?t=1874&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=285 and you can read about them there Laughing out loud I am technically challenged but at least I remembered there was a discussion Eye-wink Cool

hi johng,
have you checked out the daily sightings topic?
..each day people post the African Cam time when seen, and name of animal, etc. that was seen.
and pics of these sightings can be seen as cammers post them in the Cam Pics daily topics.
Happy Camming

I So how in the world did a video from yesterday end up playing on my screen this morning?

This is very very weird.

Jan, could it be that you clicked on one of the videos from yesterday?

I have done that myself Smiling
I guess anything's possible, but if I did that, I don't know how I did it because I didn't know I could do it. Ack!! Smiling

I had the cam open in WMP, and had posted a couple of screens of the geese. I left the cam open for a few minutes while I did a couple of things on the computer, went back and looked at it again, and saw a cheetah walking around. I hadn't closed WMP or even clicked on it -- brought it back to the front by clicking on it in my taskbar.

What might I have done to activate a video from a time when the cam wasn't on my screen? Or is that even possible? If I know how to do it, hopefully I can make sure it doesn't happen again...if that's what happened this time...

Hi John, there was a male lion that walked by the waterhole very briefly around 7.47pm CAT time but since that nothing much happened.
