Those are defective pixel positions in the camera's CCD array. They stay in the same spot relative to the margins, as the camera is panned.

cam question......what are the 2 tiny dots on either side of the large tree? I think they have named them "pixel stars". They are not real stars (although they do look like they are). Maybe another member or a mod will explain what they are in detail. Not in detail from me http://www.africam.com/boma/viewtopic.php?t=1874&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=285 and you can read about them there

I So how in the world did a video from yesterday end up playing on my screen this morning? This is very very weird. Jan, could it be that you clicked on one of the videos from yesterday? I have done that myself I had the cam open in WMP, and had posted a couple of screens of the geese. I left the cam open for a few minutes while I did a couple of things on the computer, went back and looked at it again, and saw a cheetah walking around. I hadn't closed WMP or even clicked on it -- brought it back to the front by clicking on it in my taskbar. What might I have done to activate a video from a time when the cam wasn't on my screen? Or is that even possible? If I know how to do it, hopefully I can make sure it doesn't happen again...if that's what happened this time...

Hi John,
there was a male lion that walked by the waterhole very briefly around 7.47pm CAT time but since that nothing much happened.
