ahhh makes me homesick for the rockies - beautifull animal- they are called - ELK - BY SOME WAPITI BY OTHERS - we fed a herd of up to 60 animals for 3 months each winter for 14 years- The name wapiti also has the advantage of being plain and descriptive, at least in its native language. In Shawnee, wapiti is said to mean "white rump," a distinguishing feature of the American elk

That is a little hard to do still attached.. I thought the more curl the older the ram. He is at least 8 don't you think and older than that I am very sure.

roughly 10 -12 years old they count the spaces between the dark rings- the dark rings are summer growth and usually one year is hidden under the scalp hair -

the first ram is about **8 ** these two rams are about **10 ** the one sitting pretty on the bluff died that winter -from broken leg- they use teeth for acurate age and he was **10 ** first ram on this page was about 5ft away i used a 5o mm lens- the bluff ram was 30ft away across the highway i used a 200-500 tamron lens = all 3 pics were on 64 a/s/a/ film Eye-wink

*** the top photo of the two people holding a moose skull and antlers - the moose rack on the wall was taken in - north west b.c. are at friends home - and the rack on the floor was taken in ALASKA at an info centre in DENALI NAT PARK - both of those rocks the moose were fighting and got their horns locked and thus died -it happens with all antlered animals- (rare but does happen ) TRUE-STORY Eye-wink

THE * BIGHORN SHEEP * on the left was the beat up ram i ever photographed it had broken nose- and broken horns had been in many fights -
