I went to the park this morning and got a few pictures that turned out well enough to post. Most of them were birds, but I caught this squirrel (probably an Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) ) just as I was getting out of my car to start walking!

Thank you Johanna for the confirmation and the compliments. I wasn't sure, I thought it had a crown on its head but it was too far away and there were too many bushes in the way. The alligators stalked it the whole time but it didn't appear frightened it just sat there preening itself. The two in th water are the alligators that did the staking they just kept swimming up and down the canal watching it.

Thank you Cerinthe I'm glad I joined too. I don't know how many different kinds of Turkey vultures there are, I only know of the common ones with the red heads and the black headed ones.

Can someone tell me what kind of bird this is? I put a link to the larger picture.

I believe that this is a great egret. My fiance and I were going to the mall when I looked out the window and this egret was there so I had to get pictures : ). Please click on the link for larger version.

Not so close. Probably about 10-12 metres (33-39 feet).
