Would it be feasible to create a -NEW DAY- thread for Audio captures and to identify the bird and mammal sounds we're hearing on a daily basis?

The birds are mostly out of sight and only within hearing range for identification. I know I would learn a lot more easily if there were a way to know who I've been hearing all day/night on a regular basis. And yes, I know about the Sounds of Nkorho and it is a wonderful, valuable asset.

I mean something along the lines of the daily cam thread.

Hi smalldog,

in the daily sightings forum people are welcome to post the birds or other sounds they can positively identify and the time they heard them.

You will see that there have been postings already from birds or mammals that are heard on the cam.

Yes, but, there aren't any recordings as there are image captures.

?

Yes, I know but you can always check the ~ Sounds of Nkorho ~ site for now.
All sounds there are from birds that are heard often on the cam and if you listen to them a few times/day I'm sure you'll start recognising some of them when they are heard on the cam.
Smiling

New sounds will be added regularly.

I do check the site. I was thinking, if sounds were posted as they're noted in a manner similar to the way images are posted as they're sighted, it would give us a chance to compare what we heard that day with what's in the SON database. And, would enable people who are great at identifying the sounds to clear up any confusion about a sound someone heard and posted.

I guess I'm alone in this. My memory isn't long enough to hear a bird call live and then search down the list of birds on SON listening to every one to try and find which bird I just heard. If the call were captured and posted, we could return to it, an expert could help us identify it.

Nevermind Laughing out loud Just a suggestion.
