![]() I can see the video but the view is distortedSubmitted by Africam on Mon, 05/02/2007 - 12:28am. Streaming Video Player & Camera issuesWe have been experiencing a number of compatibility issues with the stream as there are so many different versions of media players, browsers, operating systems not everyone gets the same view. If this is the case please post a screen shot of your view with the following details so we can try and resolve these problems: PC or Mac Regards Africam Admin Mon, 05/02/2007 - 3:13am
I am not sure if mine is stretched out or different or not, but I am used to it and various people have been telling me that it does seem a bit stretched out so: PC http://i7.tinypic.com/2eebf9u.jpg total screen resolution

I'm on the same system as Sterre above except I use Internet Explorer, not Foxfire, and my image is not distorted. I've heard that Foxfire can be an issue in viewing the stream but I've never tried it so I can't say for sure. PC/Windows XP

I also had a stretched view when opening cam from link on www.africam.com Windows XP home edition
my view when opening cam in Mozilla or IE 6.0 (WMP11 installed) - through link on www.africam.com :
my view from when opening cam directly in Windows media Player 11 :
I have uninstalled WMP 11 today and reinstalled WMP 10 and now this is my cam picture when opening link on www.africam.com with Mozilla Firefox
and now this is my cam picture when opening link on www.africam.com with Internet Explorer 6.0
as you can see the pic with Firefox Mozilla is smaller than the one in IE but you can adjust that by right-clicking on the cam and choose zoom 200% Sounds of Nkorho ![]() Mon, 05/02/2007 - 1:23pm
My view of the cam via Firefox/Mozilla is better than I got from IE6 and I do not have a 'stretched picture' - when I upgraded to IE7 I could not get the cam at all, which is why I switched to F/M and I am very happy that I did so. ____________________________Founding Member of the AAA - Africam Addicts Association. Everything has worked fine for me up until 3 nights ago. And since then, I get the sound fine, pictures are clear but, the pictures "hiccup" constantly. It is like I am getting still shots instead of live shots. and I mean constantlyl. I have not seen an animal actually walk for 3 days I really don't think a picture of it would help. Maybe I posted in the wrong place. Sorry if I did. Cablenet You all do such I wonderful job !!! Sometime a WIDE SCREEN monitor can cause the stretched out wide appearance, depending on the resolution of the pic compared to the resolution of one's monitor screen. Just one more thought to consider..... ____________________________E. Member of the Spotted Hyaena Fanclub " The Whoohoopers". ![]() Tue, 27/03/2007 - 8:23am
I just downloaded firefox to compare the view between that and IE 7. There is a clear difference in the size of the image, with Firefox having a slightly wider and slightly shorter image - however it appears that the information in the image is identical. (I'm running both IE and Firefox simultaneously over DSL connection to compare in real time). Does anyone know why they are different sizes from the same feed? ![]() Tue, 27/03/2007 - 8:25am
On another note, 'one' of my PC's at home is having major issues with the image. It has a green band across the top, with two green vertical lines. Does anyone know what causes this? Is there something I should uninstall to eliminate it? It makes no sense to me, when I have two other computers that display the image just fine. :x :x :x At home: Tue, 27/03/2007 - 4:42pm
I don't know if this is the place to respond, but I couldn't find any other place. I received an "undisclosed recipient" message from Africam Boma Mgmt titled "I can see the video but the view is distorted;" it further stated that I was receiving this message "because you are watching the topic ____." While I have watched this topic, I have not written anything. "This topic has received a reply since your last visit. You can use the following link to view the replies made, no more notification will be sent UNTIL you visit the topic." Am I not allowed to watch any topic I please without prior permission? I can't continue to watch unless I click that particular link? That I can find, since I made no question(s), I have nothing to respond to. Why was this message not sent directly to me instead of "undisclosed recipient?" Was it also sent to other members of the group of 21 who comprise the "Africamnutz?" My identity must have been known to someone or I wouldn't have even been included in the "undisclosed recipient." At the end, the message declared "If you no longer wish to watch this topic you can either ...." and then I was given 2 options IF I no longer wished to watch this topic. Nothing was said about my wanting to continue watching this topic. Do I not have the choice to continue watching this topic? If I have misinterpreted this message, please forgive me, but as an English teacher and one who has studied words, the meaning came across to me very clearly. Please help me understand what I did wrong, and I certainly won't do it/post again. I'm thoroughly confused. Africamnut in Phoenix Tue, 27/03/2007 - 4:53pm
As soon as I sent the previous message to Africam Boma Mgmt, I was told in one line from Africam Boma Mgmt directly following my lengthy response to "Stop watching this topic." I wasn't even listened to before I was told to "stop watching this topic?" Since those are the rules, those are the rules. I do wish someone had explained to me that I was not allowed to view any topic(s); it would have made this whole experience much better. Since all I'm allowed to do is watch, that's what I'll do. It's definitely not nessary to respond. I have gotten the message. Africamnut in Phoenix ![]() ![]() Wed, 24/10/2007 - 9:52am
I would like to comment on the night time viewing. I have stated many times and noticed a great improvement that if the number 18 AGC setting is set to Middle instead of High there is much less white glare and a better picture. Can a post it note be left by the operator's computer to do this at night? For a while they were but now it is back to High. I know different zoomers change this, thus a post it note by them would help. What do you think? ____________________________Jean

Hi I have Windows XP Home I use Internet Explorer 7 to view Africam Is there any way I can get the picture in better focus, or do I just have to wait for the new equipment? I don't mind waiting, I just wondered as I hope to see Ranger Campbell and the crew at Elephant Plains a little clearer. Thank you.

5:26 am CAT NK I use Windows Explorer to view Africam. My view is always fuzzy as if I am looking through a dirty window. Is there anything I can do to make it clearer? Thank you and thanks for all the time and effort you folks put in to make it possible for us to see the animals. Sat, 23/02/2008 - 9:29am
I have a PC w/ Windows XP with WMP 11( updated as of yesterday) with high speed DSL. For the last 2 wks the view had been EXCELLENT but for the last 3-4 days...all I get is " connecting to media"......" ready"......black screen w/ no sound for both NK and EP and the " what you missed this AM" sectors..
I've updated everything and fiddled with this and that so I give up.
I'll ck back one of these days.
