Elephant Plains is our only problem left, although we are still some way off to getting it back - no ETA yet

Earlier there was an adult giraffe at the pond. There was great discussion if the ages of the other 3 giraffe that was with the adult.

My opinion was there was an adult that was either late teens early adult. Then two young ones, close to the same age.

So I had some questions...

My first, which was answered, is if it is possible for giraffe to have twins? The answer I got, is that they can but it is rare.

My next question is, will adult giraffe take care of another giraffe's baby (if it's too young to be on it's own) if their parent was killed?

I doubt it very much.

In the event of an adult (mother) giraffe being killed by predators the chances are very high that the predators would also take the baby.

In the event of the mother being taken out by other methods (disease or poaching) the baby will either die from malnutrition or will survive on it's own (depending upon it's age) but it will not be nurtured by other giraffes.

Thats an interesting question which I am not sure to the answer off but here is my guess if other grazers do it and there is plenty of resources i would imagine its possible. I could be wrong but it would be harsh to abandon the poor thing!
