I know it sounds like I'm being flip, but, I don't see how we can honestly, reliably post anything in sightings given the viewing conditions.
Hi smalldog The viewing conditions are not that bad, has been worse. So for me no problem looking at it. And Sightings is also for what we hear Eye-wink

This is the worst it has been since I've been watching, but, that is only since early January LOL.

I know it can't always be perfect. I think it is important to say when it is not good viewing so that Africam has the information (and they do read here).

It's pretty bad for me tonight too...though it has improved a LITTLE bit as the night has gone on...still a lot of whiteness over by the tree, and quite grainy.

We'll have to make note of that....the near full moon, perhaps, is messing with our cam and the lights???

It could have something to do with the full moon AND with the auto zoom being left activated. The auto zoom needs light to focus and I think it just goes in and out trying to focus when strong light is available. Like we've seen happen when the landies lights are out.

I dunno...last night my cam view was awesome, and the moon was very bright then too. I'm not even sure the auto focus is on tonight.

Just one more observation regarding the image, for what it is worth. Aside from the glaring light that is washing out most of the background and foreground, there's a great deal of pixelation. It's a lot like it has been all the nights it was pouring and we couldn't see through the rain. But, it isn't raining tonight, is it? Or maybe it is.

My focus hasn't been the greatest, but as you say, it's been worse. It did seem to improve. The sky is great! It seems blurrier around the water hole itself.

smalldog, regarding the cam view tonight, it very well could be because the cam is pointed up at the sky more, and not down on something it can focus on. Look back at pics from other nights, they normally point the camera more down, with less sky showing. I was able to tone down my view using the controls on my wmp and actually have a pretty decent view. Here are links to pictures from the view from wavelit: without correction and the view from my wmp: with correction

Yes, I think you're right Auntie Lynn and we've got too much sky, not enough foreground. But even with adjustments, I'm not prepared to say the view is pretty good. Eye-wink

Good evening everyone!! Was that a cat at the WH or Hyena? Auntie Lyn How did you correct the WMP?
Savannah, I have wmp 10. Up at view; enhancements; video settings. You can adjust color, saturation, brightness and contrast. I lowered my contrast and very slightly lowered brightness. Visitor looked like hyena to me also.
