I have given up trying to view the website that I love! For the last 3 days I have been unable to view the cam and I have tried everything that I know, and that I have seen posted in the forums, and that others have suggested to me..
From Africam.com, when I click the link for Nkhorho stream, the Wavelit window launches and it plays the Blackberry or the Kraft Foods ad just fine, but once the ad is over, I get nothing..It says "ready" down in the bottom left corner of the page, but nothing but a black screen in the area where the cam should be. I try to press play, and it says "connecting" for 1 second and then back to "ready" and nothing else happens. I try to right click and press play, but same thing. I try to refresh, but that doesnt help. I tried to launch via WMP with the link of mms://live.wildlife.wavelit.net/6192NKP
But I get this error:Windows Media Player cannot play this file. Connect to the Internet or insert the removable media on which the file is located, and then try to play the file again.
I tried to go into the settings and click off of the "use video mixing renderer" setting as the Africam Admin suggested, but it didnt do anything either..
I am at work on their large network so I have high speed access i guess, nothing has changed on my end as far as i know, i dont have any problems with any other websites..

I am so frustrated and sad and if anyone has any suggestions, i'll check this posting for the next few days and try anything anyone suggests, but I'm not too confident that I'll ever be able to view my beloved Africam anymore

One other thing you can check on...Flash Player. You might need to uninstall it and get an update from adobe.com Same with Shockwave and Java....I am amazed at what does not work, when these three things stop working. Flash player does have alot to do with some video and graphics.

Gerda, you are amazing..i left PC to refill my first cuppa for the day and already here you are!!! I wondered when the power outages would be a problem. It's amazing how long they have gone without being offline because of it.
Thanks, will go have a look at the post.

rooie,
i just now signed online..it's almost noon in SA on Saturday, 17th. and cam on wavelit site is showing only static and no pic and i am hearing only noise.
Maybe the cam is down at this time? I will now try the other links..the one from AfriCam and the WMP, if i am unable to connect thru those either, then def the cam must be having some problems. i haven't yet read the rest of the Forum or the boma. to see if others are experiencing the same thing..
good luck to all and if a problem for AfriCam ..i hope it's nothing really serious.

Well at last I have managed to sort out my problem. It was my Norton Internet security. As we now have pop-up ads before the stream Norton’s was blocking this completely. I have adjusted Norton’s to accept pop ups and all is working very well at last. Hopefully this might sort out a few problems for those still having the same trouble. Good Luck

There's this: http://www.wavelit.com/index.asp?ch=Wildlife&sh=africam

It doesn't work for me at home either.

Some day, my cam will work...
Some day, there'll be no quirks...

It's been several days and nights since I've had a chance to try to watch Africam, but as of tonight I'm another who's getting the darn "pirated" message video in WMP. I'm browsing with Firefox but that shouldn't matter since I'm not trying to view the cam inside my browser.

The last time this happened, a few weeks ago, we were given a different URL for watching in WMP. Does anyone have something newer than 6192NKP?

I use Firefox and IE7. Both have the same results. It's very odd. I see in a post or two before this one that some fixes will be attempted. I will keep waiting. One thing I have a lot of is patience.
