There are several large flocks of escaped, naturalized Peacocks that call this area home. These were taken in an old cemetery here in Dunedin. I teased, cajoled, begged, and even tried flirting with this male peacock. But I could not entice him to spread his feathers for me LOL.

Bewick's Wren (Thryomanes bewickii)

Black-throated Sparrow (Amphispiza bilineata)

unfortunately the photos are very grainy as I couldn't get very close to them and had to use the computer to zoom closer. Oh well... see this is why I want to get a teleconverter Eye-wink

This morning I have been to the abbey and saw a few great birds. Great spotted woodpecker Dendrocopos major, displaying Great crested grebe Podiceps cristatus, and a wren Troglodytes troglodytes with nest material in it's beak.
There were no less than 8 Canadian geese and in their midst I saw one greylag goose Anser anser. Whether he was joined to this group I do not know, because they were still there when I left. I saw one only egyptian goose too.
Apart from the usual I saw and managed to capture a pic of this redwing Turdus iliacus

Wow... what a lot of gulls - that is amazing.
The Black Scoters and Harlequin Ducks were also interesting - have never seen them.
