I noticed that there seems to be less animals coming to the watering hole lately. Are they just going some where else because it's been rainy so much and they have a choice of where to get a drink or they getting ready to leave because it's almost the end of the rainy season?
Where have the animals been ?
Ah cool, so last winter there the waterhole was pretty busy, in the dry season?
In the rainy season the animals do not need to visit the waterholes so much as they can get their water requirements from plants (which are very lush at this time) and from streams and puddles in the bush, which are plentiful.
The animals will not 'leave' the area unless the rains fail - in which case they will move on in order to find water. As the rains have been reasonably good this year the animals have no reason to move.
In the dry season (approximately May - October) there will be more animals visiting the Waterhole - especially as it is an artificial one which is filled up by Nkorho staff - as they become dependent upon waterholes, rivers and dams for their survival.
