Hi guys!

I was having a huge debate and wondered what your opinions are on this article:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6419041.stm

Now as i see it this is my view:-

Different cultures have different cuisines... a few friends find this story disgusting and wrong.. whereas i found myself thinking why not if people are starving. What are your thoughts??

Except for endangered animals,I don't have any problem with anyone eating whatever they want, as long as we humans stay at the top of the food chain, especially anywhere that I might happen to visit! Laughing out loud

And there are people in the world who eat insects, lizards, slugs, baby seals, primates, and millipedes. Each to his own. For myself, I am looking at vegetarianism (and, certainly, not because of the article, which I found not at all offensive, just telling what is true).

"Equal food for lions," say I.

My turn to chime in...

When I was young I went with my grandparents on vacation. Eventually we ended up in Mexico. We passed in front of a butcher shop that had dogs on display.

I have 3 cats at present and have had many over the years. While consuming these animals has no appeal what so ever to me, there are places where that is done.

I'm not in their situation and, spirits willing, will never be. That said, I cannot pass judgement on what seems abhorent and alien to me. They have to live just as we do.

I've heard that it's common in many cultures to eat animals we in the US keep as pets. While I would not choose to eat these animals, I can't impose my choice on people starving in other parts of the world.

Nothing new here Nyala... certain societies have been doing it for years. Domestic cats, horses, etc, as well.

I'll stick with broiled shrimp, salmon, and ribeyes, etc.

I'm not upset. I just pick and choose a little more carefully these days with the aim of protecting myself from things that might get my blood up. Smiling No problem with me. Ok friend? Smiling

I didn't look at the link. If it is about alternative protein sources, such as eating animals most of us consider pets or exoctic wildlife. I'm afraid this wouldn't be a debate as much as a hot topic Sad

So I'm not even going to look at the link. Sorry Nyala Life is harsh enough without going looking for things to upset me.
