Swift it was down to your egyptian geese 'story' that I started looking for them. The colour of the head can be down to the shade as it was late in the afternoon.

You did think there should be a nest, after seeing just one before and here they are Laughing out loud
The adult has a very dark head though Puzzled:

Here is a male Common Goldeneye for comparison to Krukabs Barrows Goldeneye. The mark on the face in the males is different. In Toronto a Barrows Goldeneye is a rarity,we have maybe one or 2 reported each winter in the entire province.
