There is a lone wildebeest that just wanders across the pan now and then at night. Doesn't usually get a drink, just walks across.

I don't think there's been a lion siting reported since before Christmas. I know I haven't seen one since then.
now..There was a lion pride here in january...rested by the waterhole for 2 days...Karin Let us know they rangers had identified it as the Styx pride...8 female 1 male ...one of the most succsessful prides in breeding __________________

The Stix pride is very successful at breeding, but not very successful at raising their cubs to maturity. If my memory is right.... the pride had around 30 cubs last year and I think all were killed or died. Among their problems, they tend to take their cubs hunting for food (walking great distances) with the pride much too early, putting their cubs in great danger.
There is a high mortility rate among cubs in the wild anyway, but these girls could use a few parenting classes.
Some really good articles on this pride and other prides in the area. Just google Stix Pride.... very interesting reading.
