I LOVE THE CRESTED CARACARA - DIET: The Crested Caracara usually feeds on carrion, but they will take advantage of any food opportunity by eating small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, turtles, fish, crab, eggs, insects, worms, and nestling birds. Caracaras hunt live food on the ground or take food from other birds.

GREAT BUNCH OF PHOTOS MAKES MY DAY TO SEE PEOPLE

White Wagtail (Motacilla alba), seen in Lower Saxony, Germany last week.

I was quite a distance from these birds, but, happy to see them for the first time today at the Turtle Pond in Central Park, NYC.

First, the Great Egret (Casmerodius albus) returns to his fishing hold. He stalks, strikes, then digests Smiling

And this one was really difficult to capture on image as he was flying around like crazy getting bugs over the water. I think this is an Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe) but the bird was so far away I can't see if there is an eye ring or not and can't really make out the wings to see if there are white bars. If there are wing bars but no eye ring, then this is Eastern Pewee (Contopus virens)

Oh Limpopo, will you please add that beautiful Lark Sparrow to our Sparrow thread? Or, is he not truly a Sparrow ornothologically speaking?
