Allow me to introduce...myself!

I'm in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) and a long-time obsessive user of Africam. I forgot (Somehow?!?!) about it for a while but now I'm back. Wow have things changed!!!

My first trip to Africa was last year - South Africa (including Kwazulu Natal), Swaziland, and Zimbabwe. I can't wait to go back, and have a couple trips planned in the next couple of years. It's in my blood now.

I'm looking forward to chatting with like-minded, Africam-obsessed folks from around the world.

I work at one of the best Zoo's in Canada and love my job. I'm a dog rescuer in my "free" time, concentrating mostly on Greyhounds from the track these days. I'm a newlywed and a teacher, and mom to a 6.5 year old Shepherd Akita Smiling

thanks Tabs, over the years I have come to realise that there are two communities with the same purpose, some people go between both, others don't and that is up to the individual. I think though that it is important for new/returning members to know that we exist and as such we don't have a link yet from here although I know that it is being discussed at length. We do talk about Africam in chat, so no worries, it goes both ways.

Dear anniecat
I have gone into chat many times over the last few months but, unfortunately, I am always alone there and I admit that, if there is no-one else present I leave, rather than wait for someone to come in, as I am usually multi-tasking.

I think this must have something to do with the times (and days) that I visit - usually evenings between around 8 and 11pm (uk time) and usually when my family are out for the evening and I am 'home alone' *sob*

It would be great if there could be a link to chat from Africam again one day as I would hope that it would encourage more Africammers to join in - I have some very good memories of evenings (and sometimes all-nighters!) 'wasted' in chat rather than doing whatever I should have been! Sticking out tongue

It's lovely to see you 'back here' too anniecat - and if the chatters on Chat Africa would care to visit the Africam Boma now and again, and talk to the very friendly Bomites (www.africam.com/boma) please tell them that they will be made very welcome - we are also avid wildlife enthusiasts and would be delighted to see and chat to y'all on this forum!

Hi Annaline!
I will be visiting the Western Cape again in late July but only for 3 nights, in the Cederbergs, and I agree that the region is beautiful - stunning even - indeed!
Unfortunately I will not have time this trip to visit my friends in Capetown or to travel further afield in the area but there's always next time and, maybe, a new friend to meet!

You're welcome anytime Makalolodreams - I'm certainly no Africa specialist, but I may be help with some advice on the Kruger Park area; Botswana (Okavango Delta); Kenya (Masai Mara) and Tanzania (Arusha & Serengeti).

Well then - I should pick your brain about Southern African travel! I'm planning on returning to Africa a couple of times in the next few years. 1 next year, 1 in 2008. I can't wait to see Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, and back to Zimbabwe. *sighs*!

Hi Makolodreams, welcome back - like you I was an early Africammer but have been away for a few years now. I chose to give up looking at the pictures on the PC and went and followed my dream and work in the bush, which I did for several years as a guide and camp manager in Southern & East Africa.

While I do spend some of my time in the bush these days, I thought I would drop in and see how Africam was doing - there have been significant changes and too little of our beautiful continent Africa, but I am certain that the new management will eventually bring more of Africa back to Africam.
