Scorpio, I found your post. I thought we answered it but maybe not clearly. The sound of multiple voices you heard was a jackal family. When there is activity or a lot of people here, posts do get lost, so don't be shy, ask again, louder!

I doubt it. I think that they cooperate a lot more than hyenas do. I also doubt that they could bring down anything big enough to be more than an hors d'ourve to a lion.
