Improve your Streaming experience

For those with limited broadband access, try accessing Africam or the wavelit website through Real Player . The Player opens the websites and plays the streams normally, but seems to buffer far less. This has certainly improved my stream significantly.

Over the past few hours we've seen an incredible amount of game from wallowing warthog to zebra to impala to blue wildebeest to baboon and much more.

Until later

Hi Away2me,
I had the same problem a while ago. I think it was a general problem with the cam. At the moment it seems to work again for me...

I'm having troubles all of a sudden with viewing. The first day I was on I could leave it for hours and it wouldn't click off. Now it runs for a bit and then clicks off and won't go back on.

I tried Real Player and I couldn't get that to work. I'm on cable so my internet speed is fantastic.

What can I do?

Sad Sad I was afraid this is what I was going to hear....all the more reason to aim for high speed as soon as I can. I have been a member of Africam for many years and was absolutely thrilled when I saw the streaming and the future plans for more streaming cams...... I just knew moving out into the sticks was not all it was made out to be!!!!!! hehe...anyway the way technology is going maybe it wont be too long before HS comes my way.

Thanks so much Todd....you will hear my cheer from here when I get high speed believe me!!!!

Kinty,

The minimum bandwidth required to view the stream is 261 kbps, since the maximum output on a dial is 56 kbps, you're never going to be able to watch is without continual buffering.

Watching the stream through Real Player or any of the alternatives is not going to make much of a difference at all, these solutions are specifically for low broadband (128 kbps) users.

I have the dreaded dialup. I have tried everything mentioned above but in RealPlayer I only get the 'syncronizing' and nothing else, no sound...nothing. If I go into the cam from Afriam website, I might sometimes get the picture and sound for a few minutes and then its gone. I dont like RealPlayer and downloaded it specially to see if it made any difference but no luck. I normally use Real Alternative instead of RealPlayer but there isnt the facility to type in the URL. Can anyone help me? If not I guess I will have to miss out on these wonderful cams for a bit longer until we get something like high speed out here in the sticks!!!!!! Sad

Hi Tabs,
Yes, LTNS. I've been gone for a while.
The new cam is great. I love listening to the sounds.

Hi Dave and Elsa, Good to see you here.

I entered www.africam.com in Real Player. It opens AfriCam's website just like a browser does. When you click on Nkorho Stream a new window with the video stream will open.
