As much as I like watching the cam, it uses abot 120MB/hour and makes me go through my monthly 3GB data cap in no time. What accounts do other SA cammers have?

I'd like to get an account with a higher monthly data amount, but that will also not break the bank.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ranger Piet

I am also on the 3kg a month!!! I share with my husband - he could not work out how the bandwidth was suddenly being eaten!!? I go on but not that often - if I happen to see something really interesting a stay for a while. Would love to be able to watch when I wanted to Sad

Thanks Gameranger and Penny. Guess I'm already on the cheapest (or more appropriately least expensive) option as I do use cybersmart already. For the first time I've purchased the extra 3GB now, and will see how that works out.

Makes me long back to my old Kuwaiti days where I could just leave all cams on my 2nd screen while I did other stuff without worrying about caps and costs.

I have 5 gigs (shaped) per month and managed just fine but now that I am watching this cam that might change.

The only problem I have in the last 3 days is that my picture and sound break up after only 5 seconds or so - maybe it is just my server or alternatively it might be the same for everyone. I am reluctant to go to a higher priced package as it is a matter of time before the drives will be available and there will be a charge for this and I might not be able to afford the higher package costs and the charge!

I will wait and see what happens!

WildlifeCampus has a Telkon 384 Kbs ADSL line, but use CyberSmart as the DSL ISP. Our 3 GB cap is R 125 / PM, the least expensive of all the suppliers.

A top-up of an additional 3GB is R 189. These guys are also the only ISP that have an option to carry over unused cap over to the following month.

If you're overseas and reading this, you're forgiven for laughing at the pitiful state of broadband in SA, but things have significantly improved over the past year and access is likely to keep getting faster and cheaper.
