- hi to any one i need help in an i.d. for this hawk befor i send in a local bird report by end of september
need help with a hawk - identification please
thanks to all peopel on island say its a coopers hawk
sorry folks- i should have put in this is a north american hawk- pic taken on vancouver island british columbia canada
could this be a sharpshinned hawk??? I can't see the body (chest) and head not to definitive for me.
Maybe a Cooper's hawk? Ask Bigfrank -) -) -)
A difficult one, I've sent the image to 3 skilled ornithologists, the first reply came back as probable Honey Buzzard. The barring on the tail is a diagnostic feature of this species, but the bill is a bit strong.
If you other pics of this bird please post them.
