Frogs have sevaral calls (mating, territorial, distress). Mating calls are the ones that are most commonly heard. They are stimulated by rain and/or the increased temperature on spring evenings. But I don't know if they last the whole rainy/warmer season.

Are frogs seasonal? But if they are only in summer then we still have a looong time to listen to them. Laughing out loud

Hi mich1264, Welcome! You were probably hearing the frogs (don't know what species).

Hello all, Just started watching Nkorho Pan, I am totally hooked. I usually am only able to watch when it is night in Africa or early morning (5:00 am). Usually sound is only crickets, but tonight there is a awful sound, what is it?

First thing I saw was a Hornbill, someone said it was a Yellow Horbill, quite possible, 7:07 EDT meaning 13:07 SA local time.
Soon after there were Impalas, many of them. And a few hours later a Skeenbok it was drinking at the right end of the pond.
I thought I saw a Hummingbird bugging him, but someone said there aren't any in Africa, one person suggested an oxpecker,
but I think it is too big to be one.
A dragonfly Puzzled: Too stocky for that, I think. Anyway, it was humming and bugging the skeenbok Laughing out loud Laughing out loud
Then I spotted Wilderbeests, followed by the Warthog family, they drank and rolled in the mud. Now I just spotted a Shrub Hare.

I thought about saving a pic last night but it wouldn't have been very clear, it was only a fleeting glimpse.
