Is there an established Pride in the Nkhoro area? Mufassa mentioned that he had seen an old lioness with a zebra kill just last week. He posted pictures of her and remarked that she was old. I would love to hear your info on this!!!! Thanks. Smiling

Hi mamabevi5.
Nice of you to join the group.

I really doubt there is a policy like that involved, it is natural and a way of life in the African bush, so Im sure the cam might have been un-manned at the time or was zooming out for a broader view, but we will see what the moderators have to say, they know more than i do.

Hello,
My name is Bev and I am new to the forums, but have been watching the cam at Nkorho for at couple of months now. I have been awestruck from the first moment I watched and have been hooked ever since. I would like to say that I am happy to know that lions do pass through at least, and would like to know if there is any policy in place about not showing live kills. I was watching one day, and saw what I thought to be a lioness, which was watching a few zebra's I believe, but then the camera zoomed out and seemed to aviod that area for some time. Either way, it is so fasinating to wacth the cam. Quite educational as well. I have found many sites that help to identify the animals we see out there. I have especially enjoyed seeing the babies.
Thanks to all who make this possible.

Thanks Gerda,

Wonderful, I just watched those 2 male lions.... and I also saw your photos. It brought back such wonderful memories of my safari in Kenya last year. I grew up in Kenya, but never had the opportunity to go on a safari when I lived there, so last year I went back after 35 years. It was an experience I will never forget!! Your photos are absolutely gorgeous. I haven't checked out South Africa yet, I hope to visit there someday too. Thanks again.

Yes, thanks so much, that was the video clip. I'm still trying to get the hang of this message forum. Not quite sure how to navigate.

Talking about lions and lion prides, I saw a video clip a few days ago when the camera captured a lone male lion who called into the night, for what seemed like 5 mins or so. Does anyone know where I can find this video clip again? I'm relatively on the board, and thirst for more and more information. Thanks everyone. I went on a safari last year )Kenya), you cannot begin to imagine how close you get to these magnificient beasts.

Thank you. I remember the Skutane and Styx prides from the Video game drive days.

There was a well established pride known as the Skutane pride, this pride has since split and no other pride has taken residence in the area although the Styx pride has made more frequent visits and seems to have extended their territory further east into the Kruger. There have also been an old male lion that have been frequented the area in the last year or so.

Regarding the old lioness with the zebra kill. I have not seen her personally but believe that nobody has able to positively ID her, maybe a last remberance of the Skutane pride?
