** SPOTTED TOWHEE ( PIPILO MACULATUS )- BRIGHTLY COLORED BIRD- THEY TEND TO LIKE THE HEAVY COVER AND USUALLY COME TO THE DECK THEN GO UNDER IT TO PICK UP SEED AND BUGS - I HAD TO TAKE PIC THROUGH THE FRENCH DOOR WINDOW SO ITS NOT REALLY SHARP - Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

*** GOLDEN CROWNED SPARROW ( zonotrichia atricapilla ) i posted these 2- pics because the bird has a round cheek patch on each side- they seemed to get larger the more seed it ate - i have never seen this on a bird befor - *** any one have a theory ???- if so i would be interested in the answer ???- thanks -

The latin name is international, I think that would be the easyest way to say the name.

Krukab that was interesting about the canada geese, I didn't even know that there were subspecies. We have them here as well, was imported at a certain stage to be in parks and large properties and now they take over in the wild.

Thanks Barry, will check that out. I didn't know there were subspecies. These guys were actually quiet! When I got too close they would move a little and 'grumble' til I stopped....LOL!

I went for a walk to a local park this week and took these pics. I spent an hour with the geese.
