Huge variations at this time of the year - we have just returned from Kgalagadi Trans frontier Park and when we left on some of our morning drives it was 3 degrees and by lunchtime it was 38 degrees (in the shade)! Kruger can be just as bad and we have experienced highs in October of 42 degrees and then the rains come and the temperatures plummet. One thing is for sure with Summer still ahead of us the frogs (toads) will be back!!!

BTW the frogs are quiet due to the cold front that has swept across the country - they don't like the cold but they do like the rain. Our guttural toads at home have been silent for 3 nights due to the cold!

Thanks for the info, Penny! I was wonderin if that might be why...How cold is it this time of year there..day and night...?

Thursday 6.21 a.m. - Puff back shrike calling but our picture is only on for 5 seconds and then we get an error message saying media inactive - so clearly there are technical problems - must be the rain.
