Idube Cam is down. Olifants River cam is down due to damaged fiber switches. We are working on solutions.

Problem with viewing

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum. I have watched the streaming cam at work before and I can almost always watch at home, however, just lately, whenever I've tried to open the cam at work it says "media inactive". I start work at 8:30 am PST (I'm in western Canada). Anyone know what the issue might be?

Hi Sara,

You'll have to open up windows media. Go to tools and then click on options. Then click on the "Performance" tab. Down below you will see a button that says "Advanced" and click that. And then under video acceleration there is a box that says "use overlays" and you'll have to check that, or uncheck it, just do whatever yours isn't. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be checked though. And that should solve your problems.

Hi,
I just joined here and i'm having the same problem except mine has not resolved itself. For about 3 days now every time I sign onto the camera it's a black screen that says media inactive. I've tried the alternate link and signing in from the main page with no luck. Is there any fix to this or am I destined to suffer permanent withdrawl?

Hi Lambleyjack

As Sueso said, there has been some quite bad weather recently which has caused a considerable amount of down-time for the cam - we have all been suffering from withdrawal symptoms!

Please let me know (via PM) if you are having any continued problems and I will try to sort it out for you.

Hi LJ ! We've had some bad weather in SA which has caused the cam to quit working quite a lot lately. Keep trying, it will usually be working..like right now!
