Rules of Nkorho Watering Hole

1. Each animal is to show itself at the waterhole at least once every fortnight. (Exceptions: see rule 4) -Fabby
1a. These visits will be spread throughout the day, allowing viewers in every timezone to see a diversity of wildlife. -Fabby
2. Animals are not to make any sound, if they are not planning on moving into camera view within 10 minutes. This excludes birds, who are allowed to make sounds at all times. -Fabby
2a. Insects are not to make any sound at all. -Fabby
2b. Animals shall make certain sounds as they are seen on cam, thus allowing viewers to identify certain sounds for certain creatures. -Fabby
3. Nor are animals to creep up on viewers. They are to make their signature sounds 5 minutes before apearing into view, allowing viewers to take action, like opening programmes like WMSnap and Fraps. -Fabby
3a. At all times, the area behind the camera is a no-activity zone. - Grannycat
4. Big cats/predators are to show themselves at least once a month, and preferably on Bank Holidays as well. -Fabby

News Flash!

SAVANNAH STRANGLY SILENT, STILL SUFFERING SNOW

For the past several evenings the Nkorho Waterhole has been suffering snowy viewing from their famous live cam  that allows Africam Addicts all across the globe to view the animals coming to drink each day.  Snow is highly unusual for this area of South Africa even though it is the last few weeks of winter there.

Africam Administration assures us that they are trying to clear the snow as soon as possible.  Oddly, the view from the streaming cam is very clear during the daylight hours and snow only begins at dusk.  Administration feels that the auto focus and infared light has something to do with this snow.  Others who live in the northern parts of the world and are used to even more snow than what is seen here, have offered to help in any way they can.  Some have sent snow shovels and others have sent new wipers and wiper fluid for the cam lens.  One even volunteered to put up a Christmas tree so we could enjoy seeing that in the meantime.

Africam Addicts have also noted that many of the animals who regularly make a visit to the wh at night have been missing. There has been a strange bright round object floating high over the wh these past few nights.  Last evening loud splashes were heard and it appears that this glowing object either fell or landed in the wh.  An addict actually managed to get a photo of this before it disappeared just before daylight.

Many of our favorite animals seem to have amnesia and cannot find their way through the snow to the waterhole.  We suspect that the Aliens abducted all of the animals and dropped them into a snowy part of the world probably inhabited by the Abominable Snowman.  Those that managed to escape were able to find snowshoes and managed to find their way back.  We have seen their footprints near the edge of the wh and one addict was able to photograph those also.

A concerned Canadian cammer has commented that she knows personally, many of the snowy conditions could be caused by certain weather conditions, of which we have no control. She says that a live person (not a robot) may have to climb the cam tree in order to fix the problems.  A number of young baby babs were sent to do the job the other day, but obviously were unsucessful.  It could also be very dangerous for this live person to attempt this repair, especially in the darkness.  As much as we would like to see the return of Ms Garbo or our leopard with the bent tail, we know that they are probably very hungry by now and we would not like them to think that a 2 legged creature up in the tree is meant to be their dinner.  And by 2 legged, we do not mean E & T or our owl who also sometimes is in the cam tree.

We still think the Aliens had something to do with this whole business, but they adamantly deny the charges.  Stay tuned for further developments.

EARLY EVENING EDITION:

FUZZY FOCUS FASCINATES FEARLESS FOUR

This morning, the fabulous fearless foursome and friends climbed the cam tree again to see if they could fix the focus.  One thought he looked pretty sharp when he peered at the cam lens.  We keep trying to tell these fearless baby babs that they should wait for the 2 legged creatures who wear clothes to come and do the job.

During the early evening while a Zoomie is around to focus closer on visiting animals, we see a much improved view of them.  We can't quite understand why they can't stay up 24 hours a day focusing the cam for us.  Don't all 2 legged creatures who wear clothes have bloodshot eyes with puffy dark circles under them and drink lots of dark colored water to stay awake?

We suspect that when they leave us, we will need to put on our Sherlock Holmes outfit in order to find the animals we know are out there taunting us with their wild parties and "whooping" it up most nights.  We know how foggy London gets at night, so by wearing our stalker hat to keep those owl droppings off our heads and our long cloak, which does not make us invisible like Harry's does, and our magnifying glass and pipe, we should be all set.  Now kids, remember the pipe is only to light and send smoke signals in the event of emergency and at no time should you actually smoke it!

We expect we will find some fingerprints on the cam lens, but perhaps by following footprints we will have a better chance of locating our confused visiters who can't seem to find their way to the wh in a snowstorm  We will, of course, invite Dr. Watson to come with us.  Perhaps he can add some medication to the wh that will improve the animal's sense of smell and help them locate the water.  He may also try to bring his defogger to help with visibility.

BREAKING NEWS!!

BUFFS BACK! BATTLE BEGINNING?

It has been reported that there may be a battle brewing at the wh!  Earlier this evening a Battalion of Rhinos were at the wh to tank up!  A hyena was noticed sneaking up behind one to see if both ends needed refilling?  One end with water, the other with gas.  At least 7 rhino were seen at the wh and it was noticed that some had over-filled their rear tanks and thus had to release some of the gas.  Some feared that the breathing quality of the air around the wh would be compromised, but we have been assured that natural gas has no odor.  This is why the natural gas companies add an annoying scent to the gas before selling it to us.  That way we will be warned in advance should the pilot lights on our stoves or furnaces develop a leak!  It seems that several of the tanks were over-filled, as we heard gas being released on more than one occasion.

We now know that this meeting of the rhinos was not just to fill up, but to apply camophlague as well.  We have now seen the rhino that we have known as Oreo apply his make up.  At first we thought he was just going to take a "bubble" mud bath, but now we know differently.  Since Oreo was the one who confronted the Styx Seven when they visited the wh just a short time ago, we wonder if the Battalion is getting ready for another exciting event??

Baby Huey accompanied his mother to the waterhole while the others filled up.  We are glad that the cats did not choose to come while he also filled up.  In addition to the one we now recognize as Oreo, another was also seen coating himself completely, and a third applying some to his horn and just under the eyes very much like American football players do before a game.  Another rubbed against the completely covered rhino's sides to see if the paint was dry, but we could see that it was not, as some transferred to that rhino.  All this getting ready for possible battle was upsetting to Baby Huey, who began to whine "Please, Mr. Custer, I don't want to go!"

Shortly after the majority of the battalion marched off to the right into the darkness, another rear watch guard came to fill his tank.  A passing hyena also checked to see if the rear tank required filling and was told it didn't and to please remove himself from the area.

The final visitor to the wh was the advance outlook for the Mighty Buff Battalion.  After filling his own water tank, he surveyed the area and no doubt has returned to the herd to report his findings.  We know that the Buff herd has also encounted cats at Kruger who tried to steal one of their youngest members and have no fear of the cats and are willing to do battle to protect their own.

News Update"

ATTENTION ANIMALS!  ALL AFRICAM ADDICTS ARE AWAITING ARRIVAL!!

It has been reported that the Alien spaceship landed and took off again just shortly before 6:00 am CAT.  Upon leaving, Harry Potter came and removed his invisiblitly cloak so that all animals are now free to be seen at the waterhole.  Even the majority of the birds have been strangly silent, however, some are now starting to warm up.  One addict in particular keeps claiming to hear ellie trumpeting.  No one else has heard them this evening or early morning, so we suspect this person has imbibed too much juice of the vine or else is actually asleep and is dreaming and talking in her sleep.  If ellies are indeed close at hand, we woud love to have them come soon, as many cammers are getting very tired and just may fall asleep and smash their fingers and their nose when they hit the keyboard.  In addition to the ellies, we expect to see our usual early morning visitors.  Zebra, impala, and wildies.  It has been a full day now since we have seen a giraffe or kudus.  Vervet monkeys and babs usually come at some point in time too and a pair of jackals and pair of warthogs.  An Army tank unit of rhinos did come to the wh last evening and calmly drank their fill and proceeded to have some R & R time.  A mysterious member of the large cat family was seen in the distance, but managed to slip out of view before Addicts were able to get a positive identification.  It is hoped that perhaps later in the day this kitty will return to drink their fill.  During the Alien abduction time, when all animals were transported to Alaska or somewhere with lots of snow, visibilty at the wh was very snowy, but luckily, dedicated Africam technicians were able to remedy the problem and viewing is now back to the preferred clarity.  Zoomie is now giving us a walk about and will help us spot the first daylight vistors to the wh.

Just when addicts were commenting on a nice clear picture, it suddenly began snowing again!  We can hear the wind howling and what sounds like hail hitting the cam power box.  Frogs or crickets or whatever we are hearing don't seem to be affected.  Even dreaded Olive Toad has not been singing in his hoarse raspy voice.  Aliens have NOT left Africa!  One of the first animals to appear once it was dark was rendered invisible except for his reflection in the water!  The lodge now is alight with lights!  Are they searching for the Aliens???  HELP!  ALF!!!   Do you have any way of finding out who and where these Aliens are?  You must have some secret police out there that can locate them.  Sherlock, Dr. Watson and all the Addicts with their Sherlock costumes are not having any luck!!!   Much as we want a visit from the Katt family, we wouldn't want to wonder where and when they appear!!!

URGENT UPDATE!!

ALIENS ALTER ANIMALS' APPEARANCE!!

Africam Addicts requested Alf's assistance in ridding us of Aliens!  Apparently he has been unsucessfu.!  This evening, in addition to the snowy conditions, all animals have had their appearance altered and they now look like artic creatures and blend in perfectly with the snow.  The only ones we were able to see briefly in sharp enough focus to recognize was a pair of rhinos and a couple of little bokkies that zoomie just happened to focus on.  Zoomie is up later than usual this evening and we have seen mysterious lights beyond the trees.  At one point a huge round bright white circular object was visible and we suspect that the ALIENS HAVE LANDED AGAIN!!!  Every time the cam is focused closely on the right finger side of the wh the picture feed is much clearer, but when the cam goes back to center again the focus and snow is horrible.  We are hearing odd noises in the background!  Earlier some heard donkey braying and more recently some sawing noises that might indicate a leopard is nearby.  We have no idea what a leopard would be doing sawing down trees at this time of night.  Now we are hearing strange Whooping sounds and barks and wild calls that seem very close.  What is going on???  We haven't time to contact the SHADOW even if he does know, as we have lost his phone number.  We suspect he has an unlisted number now so that we can no longer count on him.

Early Evening News"

STRANGE  SILVER SILHOUETTES  SIGHTED!

Loud squealing noises were heard repeatedly recently for long periods of time.  We think this was an entire squadron of Alien spacecraft doing something to the animals at the wh!  Some cammers have seen these silhouettes refected in the water, but the actual animal is invisible!  The blinding white ground surrounding the wh has addicts staring so intently at their computer screens that they are beginning to hallucinate!  One insisted that she saw a mother lion lay down and her 2 cubs were frolicking nearby.  When she checked her video recording, all she could see was dancing/pulsating pixies.  Or was it pixels?  Anyway, dancing at the wh is allowed, but we are not sure if pulsating is.  This is supposed to be a kid friendly website, you know.

We don't think this Addict was ingesting hallucinogenic substances, but everyone is having serious eyestrain attempting to figure out what few animals are coming to the wh.  The Aliens have turned them all into albinos so they blend in with the snowy ground.  All others were transported to Hawaii where they are dancing the hula and putting on a show for the Addicts who live there.

One large head of an animal was spotted shortly after midnight at the finger end of the wh.  It glowed white and since it seemed much larger than a bokkie and seemed to have a horn on its nose, we all agreed it was no doubt a rhino.  We couldn't hear any of the animals drinking last night because of the wind.  The wind and white conditions made one cammer think she really was in a blizzard and she dug out her winter coat and mittens.

The thrilling event early on in the hours before dawn was the appearance of a lovely lioness.  While she lay for a long time drinking, we were grateful that she chose the cam tree side of the wh, as we were able to identifly her as a lioness when she stood up and turned to leave.  Her glowing white silhouette was clearly that of a lion.  It was impossible to tell if this was our Ms Garbo, (as she is affectionately known) or another new lady.  In the meantime, one addict suggested she be named Snow White.  Others thought that was a good name and are now expecting that another concert in her honor will be held soon.  The title of the show could be "Some Day My Prince Will Come."

EARLY MORNING EDITION

FANS FIX FANCY FEAST FESTIVAL FOR FRIENDS

Fans of Africam, otherwise known as Africam Addicts, are fixing a huge feast for all their friends at the Nkorho Pan today.  The feast will be set as a buffet allowing all of their friends to participate when it is convenient for them.  A few rhino have already come to fill their tanks with water, and buffs as well.   We anticipate that we will see them again later this evening and that more of their friends will also come.  Fans love to see Baby Huey who is growing rapidly.

Zebra, wildies and impala often like to travel together and some have already arrived for a drink.  We have special grasses for them and have even imported some exotic ones not known to this area.  Bermuda grass and Kentucky Bluegrass just to name a few.  We know that ellies also like grasses, so we will have plenty for all.  There will also be acacia leaves for the giraffes, ellies and impala and we have learned that Jackalberry fruit is a favorite of warthogs, babs, hornbills, impala, ellies,rhino, giraffe, buffs and kudus.  We will be sure to have lots of that since so many like it.

There will be lots of grasshoppers, ants, grubs, fungi, flowers,and other foods for those who favor them, like the vervets.  Monkey bread, assorted bark and branches, leaves, Manketti fruit and nuts of various kinds will also be available.   We are planning to have as many foods as possible to please the appetities of all our friends.

A special invitation to bathe has also been planned as part of the day's activities.  We all know how much the warthogs like to have a mud bath daily and we are hoping that the ellies will enjoy that today as well.  Rhinos and buffs also like to have their turn at the spa, but we are hoping they will make that the last activity of the day for them, as the water gets quite low after they have participated.

Other invited guests are our feline friends.  Mr. Inthula and his lovely mysterious lady friend, Ms Garbo and Snow White (if she wasn't Ms Garbo in costume the other night) and the Seven Styx Sisters are overdue for a visit.  We do hope that they will arrive already full, having eaten before their arrival, and will join us for long drinks and some special treats.

We are having some imported treats flown is especially for them.  You may have already heard our friendly Aliens spacecraft arriving and departing at various times today.  We also would appreciate that the Leopards and the Katts not come at the same time, as we would not like to have any confrontations around the pan.

The special treats for the felines will inlcude 9 Lives, Cat Chow, Friskies, Iams, Meow Mix, Whiskas and of course the best of all, Fancy Feast.  It would also be appreciated if all guests can be in attendance before the evening hour of 6:45 pm CAT.  Should some ellies come today and the Leopards and the Katts arrive before that time, we will have had the Big 5 guests here again within 24 hours.  Looking forward to having a wonderful feast today. 

Fans will finish the festival with fireworks, courtesy of Ms Charlie and all the Kids in the Nest.  They will also be happy to show the special videos that they have made in honor of all our friends. Come, all!  The Feast is Ready!!
