Maxx, I went out one day and left the cams up. When I came home we had a brown out, and the computer was not working. Repluged the computer back in, and it worked. Few days after that I was using the computer watching the rides (elec was fine) and the computer cut off and went black by itself. I am sure their must be damage somewhere. I have a MAC. __________________

The reason I asked was because for the last two days everytime I try to watch it doesn't play. I get an error message. My machine is doing a complete virus checking now (for almost 10 hrs) and I did not want to reboot until it finishes. Maybe it will work after I reboot. Thanks WC and Maxx for answering. 10 hours?! How big is your hard drive? How many files? I would say that a virus scan that takes that long is already indicating a problem even if it doesn't find anything. What AV do you use? __________________

Thanks for the tip, Maxx. The default setting is automatic I believe. The whole cache thing is a throwback to when everyone was using a dial-up and reducing traffic through the phone line was important for speed. But if you have broadband (which I assume we all have since you can't watch the cams without it basically)....then you should use the other setting that reads from the cache rarely. Ctrl+refresh is still needed sometimes for pesky cache files.

To cut down on false reading from the cache... Start>settings>control panel> Then click the Internet Options icon. When the userbox appears, on the General tab...look for the temporary internet files area (center). Click settings. On the next box....under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" click "Every visit to the page". OK your way out..... |
You got something seriously amiss there Lea. The average machine should be able to scan 100,000 files in around 30-60 minutes on an XP machine (not sure about Vista).
Perhaps you should try running AVG in windows safe mode and see what happens.
EDIT: Whoops...I see you have a MAC. Can't help there I am afraid....
