I think that one is a female. Someone said there are two that lap but I haven't seen the other one yet. Don't know if rejected or just comes alone to drink. Don't think the others like to linger that long around the water. __________________

Oh was that him? I knew he sounded sooo loud compared to the other Eland I have seen. I didn't know he had to drink differently now. Wonder why he was all alone, did the others reject him when he was injured? __________________

That Eland had a broken jaw last year and it has survived so far. It has to lap the water like a dog instead of slurp it up like the others do. __________________

This is the thirstiest Eland I have ever seen...he is all alone and has been drinking non-stop for about 25-30 minutes, not even afraid that Fatty may be around. __________________

I'm thinking this jackal family must be the new kids in town. They don't seem to realize the fatty danger like the other jackals do. __________________

Uni, did you see this when fatty (per the cam op) nabbed a baby wartie and then Mom goes in and retrieves baby from Fatty. 0_0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtajXcPHsR0 Someone else has one on youtube where fatty actually drags a wartie in and under the water but it finally manages to free itself and escape.
thanks for that aquila, what a disturbing noise tho, poor baby wartie, glad mum was about to give fatty what for tho __________________

Thanks for the video link, Aquila. It is so far away, though, making it difficult to see much of anything. For all the times I've checked out Pete's Pond, the camera work is sloppy at best, or is on auto-cam. This was a perfect example of the camera person not being zoomed in over there to begin with. I'll take our Watering Hole zoomies anyday over Pete's Pond. I think I'd go crazy if they ever put the tree camera on auto-zoomie. We would miss so much more.
