Posted by Karin 13th January. Good evening! Awesome sightings on camera today! Glad to see that we have Zebras around again. Just sad about the Wildies being scattered by the Lions last night. Can't believe that the Styx Lions are back on our open area AGAIN!! Must be something in NKORHO water that keeps them here... Just hope that our Wildies are safe. Happy camming and enjoy the rest of your "safari ". Bush greetings, Karin

Posted by Karin 10th January Good evening cammers! A very exciting ending to a lovely day! Had male Leopard stalking baby Wildies in front of pool earlier this evening. Think that it might be Mvula. Really hope it rather catches an Impala... and if I may wish for more... that it all will happen in front of the camera in day time! We really went a while without Leopard, but were blessed with good Lion sightings lately. The Styx finally moved off to the south this morning. Hope they return soon though. They also found Cheetah on the morning drive today, but it was about 2 km south of the lodge. The latest count on the baby wildies is 3 , so I think the young one without the mother either died or was killed by something. Quite sad but we all knew chances of survival was minimal for that baby. Happy camming and hope that you get to see Leopard soon. Bush greetings, Karin....Good night!!

posted by Karin 7:51am 5 January Good morning from a rainy Nkorho! What a way to start the day.... Had Cheetah on our open area chasing Impala! It unfortunately missed and then went up north. And then the sad news.... the Styx Lions caught 2 Wildebeest. A mom and baby... the baby was killed while the guests were having morning coffee before they left for drive. The Lions are feeding right now... very close to the lodge... Hope they come this way again! Happy camming! Bush greetings, Karin __________________

Posted by Karin 1/1/2010 2:17 PM CAT Good afternoon all Africammers!! Firstly, on behalf of Dirk, Jacqui, myself and all the Nkorho staff we want to wish you a prosperous New Year! May all your dreams come true in 2010. We really had an excellent year .... brialliant sightings... pack of 24 Wild Dogs, Cheetah kill on open area and then yesterday the Jackal catching the Ground Hornbill and the rest of the Hornbills attacking the Jackal! It really was awesome to share this all with you. From my personal view there is just a few things I would like to share. After reading the chat and forum lately I have mixed feelings.... From our side we really try to satisfy all viewers but as you know it is very difficult to keep everybody happy all the time. Last night we really wanted you to be part of our " happy moment " ... celebrating New Years! Now I see that a few people are very unhappy because we put the camera on the lodge last night. While being busy with our daily tasks.... whenever or whatever we are busy with, we try not to forget our Africam friends and to share as much of our wonderful world as we can... raw Nature as it is and then also the other part of this all.. our lives.... I just want to apologise if we do not make everybody happy all the time but we do this for the love of it .... also using our spare time manning the camera... as we do not have a specific person allocated to the camera. Anyway, we are realy glad for the fact that we are able to be part of your lives and are able to share the wonder of Mother Nature with those who love it. Once again, thank you so much for the good wishes... we really appreciate it! Happy New year and ..... happy camming. Bush greetings, Karin

Posted by Karin 22 December 2009, 3:12 PM CAT Hellooo to the rest of the world!! Again a very hot day at Nkorho! I had such luck this morning... going out to check the roads and I find a Cheetah!! That really was awesome. It has been a while since we last saw Cheetah. The cats have been very shy lately. We were so unlucky with Mvula the last few days. We just got his tail the last few times. Maybe he will show up shortly... We all just need to wish hard enough and maybe our wish will come true! We had such wonderful sightings with all the general game on our open area. I just love watching the Wildebeest calves running and playing! The Zebra just give me a slight heart attack sometimes when he goes after the babies. I am so scared that he will hurt one of them, but I trust he will not do such a thing.... he better not!! Hapy camming! Bush greetings, Karin

posted by Karin 14 Dec 8:38pm And again we had another great day at Nkorho!! Got to see the 2 male Lions on the Buff kill close to the lodge and also the Windmill pride that is just south of the kill. Really had great sightings...all the Wildebeest with their babies, the lone Zebra, lots of Impala, Baboon and then all the Lions... Go check out our facebook group because I posted some photo's again. In connection with "Mike " the tree, it is still alive. Had a look at it the other day and it is only a dead branch in the centre of the tree. So Mike was just a little "disabled "and fortunately not dead! Happy camming and hope you have a good time at NKORHO! Bush greetings, Karin __________________ Nkorho Lodge __________________

Posted by Karin 13 December 2009 8:12 pm Good evening! What a day we had again with the Styx Lions being around. They were lying on our open area early this morning and then moved off to the north of the lodge. And then we had them hunting the Bluewildebeest in front of the pool a few minutes ago. I really hope that the don't catch a Wildebeest toningt. I was watching them from my window walking to the south of the lodge...towards Kaalkol at the back of my house. Was quite scary... I think we wight get rains later on. Lightning all over and after the heat we experienced today it just might be a possibility. I realy want to apologise in advance if we have to switch off the camera in case of a huge lightning storm... prevention better than curing they say... Will let you know tomorrow what happened with the Styx. Mixed feelings in my heart at this moment, want the Lions to stick around but for the sake of the babies I hope they move off and rather catch a Buffalo! Happy camming! __________________ Nkorho Lodge __________________

Posted by Karin 12 Dec 10:10 pm CAT Good evening! Started working again today after my leave. Been to the coast but it sure is good to be back. I really enjoyed this morning... seeing all the new babies. We have 5 now but sadly lost one already. Apparently there were 4 on Wednesday and then only 3 on Thursday. Another calf was born later on and then today another one. I am so sorry that we have missed the birth on camera because I got to see the cow with the hanging placenta and the baby only later on. She might have given birth behind the trees where we could not see. At least it was very special to see the calf's first steps... bit wobbly but amazingly quick on it's legs. Was a great morning after all. Loved the Oxpeckers on the Zebra too. Strange that it is all by himself. The guys had Mvula south of the lodge this morning. Just hope that our babies are safe from him. Would love to see him again but on the other hand I hope he stays away for a while.... Please feel free to join in on our facebook group. Will post a few photo's again tomorrow. Oh yes, thanks to Fani for her compliment and I really appreciate it. I love sharing this all with you people. Glad that you love it too!! Happy camming and enjoy the rest of your "Safari" Bush greetings, Karin __________________ Nkorho Lodge __________________

Good afternoon cammers! We are not sure to which pride the Lions of last night belongs to. First the rangers thought it was the Styx but later on they realised that it were different Lions. Just saw the 2 females and one male. We had a great sighting just west of our open area on our drive way this morning... Female Cheetah killed a young Impala and dragged it underneath a bush. Saw it a while ago so it is still out there. Would be so nice if it comes to have a drink later on. Happy camming and enjoy the rest of your day! Bush greetings, Karin
