Good morning from a cool, cloudy Nkorho. Update on the last few hours. They found the Styx yesterday and we were so lucky having them at the wh last night. They also found Whitecloth on Jackal road, just east of the lodge and then it moved on towards Kudu Corner. I would love to see her again as I have not seen her in a long time.  The guys are sitting in an Elephant sighting far south of the lodge at this moment. It was quite a busy game drive up to now this morning as they also found the Rhino on Pump road....the road that goes west from our delivery access. Well, happy camming and enjoy your day! Bush greetings, Karin

Good evening! Can you believe our luck tonight. We had 2 male Lion and a young female Leopard very, very close to the lodge. The Leopard is up in a tree and the Lions unfortunately went to Kudu Corner and then later on went up north. I really hoped they would come to the water hole. Now have to cross our fingers that the Leopard will pay us a visit soon. Will get back to you tomorrow on who the Lions were. Bush greetings, Karin

Hi cammers! I am sitting here, wishing that it will start to rain soon. Everyday looks so promising...just to be so disappointed at the end of the day. It really is so tough to rain, but we just need to believe that we will be blessed with much needed rain very soon! I spoke to the guys about last night's Leopard and male Lions. They think that it might be 2 males from the Kruger as they are not that relaxed with the vehicles. And the female Leopard was Whitecloth....and I missed her! I really have not seen her in a long time.  Tomorrow we need to make a plan about our  water pipe because of our "Plumber Ellie " too. It is not in a good mood latley and is destroying everything in it's way.  For the last 2 nights it has pushed over about 7 or 8 trees around the lodge. There are thousands of trees around and he chose those next to our houses! Why oh why?? On game drive this afternoon they found tracks of a male Lion, so we might get lucky later on. Yesterday we had a "Big 5 day "around our open area! Unfortunately we could not reach them all with the camera, but they were here!! I will be going on leave from Tuesday and will be back in 2 weeks.  Enjoy the rest of your camming! Good night and sleep well, or enjoy whatever you are doing!  Will speak again tomorrow.Karin

Hi cammers!  What a busy day we had at the water hole today....Buffalo, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Warthog, Impala, Bluewildebeeste, Fish Eagle, Crow, E&T, Zebra....We really had brilliant sightings. The Fish Eagle chasing the Hadeda, the Crow chasing the Fish Eagle......Undoubtfully one of the most interesting things I have seen. On game drive earlier I heard that the guys were sitting with Elephants, and they found Lion a few km's west of Nkorho. I am not sure which pride.Heard from our neighbours (Jacobin) that Mvula came drinking at their water hole just after 9 last night. I wished he came this way rather ....but I suppose if a man...I mean Leopard ...is thirsty he is not too picky about the source of water....Nkorho / Jacobin??...and unfortunately we were not the preferred one. I am on leave from today and going to vist my family for the next two weeks, so I will be missing lots of  good sightings I know. You must enjoy every moment you spend in the company of Nkorho! Have o lovely evening/day! Bush greetings, Karin

Good evening cammers! Wow!!! What a day we had......Just came back from leave and started working again today.....But oh boy, what a way to start again! Had the Styx with the Zebra kill on our drive way, the 3 Elephants drinking, Marabou Stork, Zebras, Wildebeest....and then the best sighting ever: a pack of 24 Wild dogs! We could not believe our eyes. I was doing some gardening when Julia called me to tell me we had 4 Dogs at the water...and then suddenly they popped out from behind the cam tree....they were all over. I really have never seen such an amazing sighting. Sorry that we abandoned the camera but we just had to go ourselves to see what they were up to. They went north and then they moved west directly towards the Lions on the kill. It was absolutely great to see this. The Dogs and the Lions noticed each other and then the Lions got up, staring at the Dogs .  Luckily as soon as the Dogs have seen the Lions watching them the pups immediately ran back east. One female Lion gave chase but only for a few metres and then returned to the carcass.  A few of the adults started jumping up and down and making very interesting bark-like sounds. We just sat there watching this all happening in front of us....not believing our luck. The Dogs then all went east  in a hurry going towards Kudu Corner . Thanks for the video you posted and we are so happy that we could share this with you all. Happy camming and have a lovely evening.  Bush greetings, Karin

Hi all cammers! Hope you are all doing fine.  What a wonderful weekend we had concerning good sightings around Nkorho.  Friday the Elephants, Saturday the Wild Dogs and White Cloth making a Steenbuck kill. I did not see the Wild Dogs because I have been watching rugby....yes and of course the Blue Bulls won, but I have seen the photo's you all posted.  Our guests have seen the most amazing sighting yesterday and this morning.  Nyaleti (female Leopard) with three cubs.  Even the rangers could not believe it.  It is very rare for a Leopard to have 3 babies so it really is something very special.  Unfortunately it is far west from Nkorho, but I have posted a few photo's on Nkorho Bush Lodge Facebook group .  Myself, Jacques, Julia, Wesley and Michelle went on a short staff drive yesterday and have also seen White Cloth with her kill just east of the waterhole. Later on before dark I went there again and she just disappeared.  The rangers also went there but could not find her again.  I hope that she will stick around for a while.  I am just wondering about her cub for we have not seen it in a while.  One day we might get to see it, well I would really love to see it! I see that we have a new "local resident" around the lodge the last few days...The one lone Buffalo bull that has been coming to the waterhole lately. I just heard that the guys said this afternoon that he is not a very friendly guy and tend to become very aggressive from time to time.  We will just keep an eye on it especially with our guests doing bush walks everyday. Once again...thank you for watching and for making Nkorho Pan a happy, warm and friendly place to be!! Happy camming! Bush greetings, Karin

Good morning cammers!  A beautiful morning in the bush....Good to see the Ground Hornbills again.  Just glad my food come differently....I like fresh...but then this might be too fresh. The rangers found the Styx pride at Fig tree this morning. I really hope they come this way.  We will keep you updated on them. Have a lovely day!  Bush greetings Karin

What a blessing!!  Sitting here in the bar watching, smeling and listening to the rain.... Hoping we get our much needed rains this time... We had quite a busy day at the waterhole today.  It was extremely hot and I think all the critters out there must have been very thirsty.  Thank you for the photo's of the Cheetahs.  I just wished I could see them too , for there were so many vehicles that also wanted to join the sighting that I had to come back to the lodge without seeing them...but maybe next time! Well, happy camming and enjoy your Nkorho Safari.  Bush greetings, karin

Good afternoon.  A very hot day coming to an end....What a beautiful sighting of the Guineafowls!  "Busy chickens ".... Went on a staff drive with my neighbours yesterday and saw the 2 Mapogos on a Buffalo kill.  They are beautiful! And at last I have seen the baby Jackals this morning!  I have been looking for them for days now and today was my lucky day!!  Happy camming!  Karin

Hi cammers!  A very windy day here at Nkorho.  It has been a very quiet day up to now.  I really hope there is some more activity later on.  Will be nice to have some Cheetah or Leopard drinking.  What a special sighting we had last night with the Elephants , Buffalo and Rhino all drinking together.  It really was an awesome sight!  This morning I went out to look why the Impalas were alarm calling but could not find anything .  There might be a CAT hiding somewhere....  I hope!!  Happy camming!

Hi cammers!  What a day at Nkorho!  Had the Wild dogs ...pack of 24.  Must admit, had mixed emotions....great to see them but they killed one of the 3 Reedbuck that always feed next to my office.  Very sad...  And had 2 male Lions last night, just wish I could also have seen them!  Happy camming and will post photo's on Facebook later on. Enjoy!!
