Hello bomites,

This thread is for everyone to practice posting pics, removing quotes etc., - anything you aren't sure of, go ahead and try it out here.

*Edited to add rules for posting pics*

When posting images, they should not exceed 500 x 350 pixels, and the sum of file sizes of all images in one post may not exceed 240 KB" No more than 4 images should be posted in any single message, to make it easier for other cammers to view them and to give others a chance to post images. Kool!  Thanks!

I want to learn how to make a link appear with the name of the link, or "click here" instead of just pasting a long http:// address.

For instance, if I wanted to link back to the thread about posting more pics and video links daily, how would I do that so that it didn't look like this

http://www.africam.com/wildlife/pictures_and_videos_we_need_more

Thanks Ingwe.  I have that thread open to learn.

Ok, here is my try to link back to the thread about how much we love for members to record their sightings with pictures and links to videos, posted daily in those threads:  click here

but I won't even ask what Pop Ups, Events, and Advanced are about in the window.

That's weird Dolly - when you click on the little green tree at the bottom of the white reply box, the pop up window should come up?

Also you can use Irnfanview to resize pics.  It's a free programme, easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space on your computer..

Dolly, I don't want to butt in but...

when you post a message, down at the bottom of the white box you type in, does it say enable rich-text or disable rich-text? Ingwe's question relates to adding a picture in the enabled rich text screen (at the bottom it will say disable rich-text) In that screen you should see this at the bottom:

The green tree is to add a picture, the broom is to clean up code, the A is select color for font, the line is to add a horizontal line, and the smiley face is to add a smiley.

The small chain and the broken chain above all that is how you make a link in your text. You highlight a word, click on the chain, a small window will open and you paste the url to where you are linking to in the first box and in the third box down, choose new blank for target (that means whoever opens the link will not lose the page they are on), then click insert.

Hope this helps Smiling

thanks a lot auntie, i need all the help i can get !!!   i never noticed them before , i did make one smaller ..does this mean after i add picture i use broom to wipe off the url address? Auntie do you see the picture i put up? Can you see the writing across , like photobucket? how can i get rid of it ?

Dolly/Bonny the broom is to clean up all the unclosed links that could give your post a problem. Another words, if you were typing in bold and somehow the closing link for bold got lost or wasn't there, by clicking the broom, it would add that command to the type so when you clicked on post comment, it would look like you wanted it to. Not really a problem unless you are going back and forth in enable rich-text and disable rich-text and adding your own commands. You shouldn't have to worry about it other than that. It shouldn't do any harm if you do click on it. Smiling

In your picture above you added the url for the picture to the body of your post. You didn't have to do that, that's why you see the address with photobucket included. If you are in rich-text enabled and have the tree picture at the bottom of your white box, you only need to click on that tree, add the url to the first line, give it a name if you want and give it a description if you want. If you choose not to do those last 2 things, it will give you a warning message, but you ignore that and click insert anyway. If you wanted to describe what the picture was, you would type in the comment box, and click the tree where ever you wanted to put the picture. Once the picture is there, you can click once on it, grab ahold of the corner and drag it bigger or smaller however you want it. If you grab it from the top or sides it will distort your picture, so from the corners is best.

Hope I haven't totally confused you. Smiling

I don't think you've copied the entire URL for the pic.  Try again!
