![]() Problem when editing a postSubmitted by topcat7736 on Fri, 08/08/2008 - 11:44am. BomaWhen I edit a post, why is it then duplicated (the original post remains and the edited one is added as a new post)? Also, I would have deleted the first one, but I couldn't find a place to do it. Are we not able to delete or alter our own postings? ____________________________Fri, 08/08/2008 - 12:14pm
Hi topcat. I just tested editing my post in the Watering Hole chat and it worked. Sometimes the forum just gets "wonky". Only Moderators can delete entire posts but once you get your editing to work you can change the content if you want to. Hope this helps. ____________________________Donna ![]() Fri, 08/08/2008 - 12:19pm
Thanks Donna. I just noticed that the first post (like the one creating this topic) has no edit function on it. But, I'm going to post this one and see if I can edit it. Wish me luck! LOL Now, this is the post edited for the second time to see if it works when there's a post after the one you're editing. If it does, then I'm at a loss why it didn't do it correctly in th other forum. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fri, 08/08/2008 - 1:29pm
Hi Topcat. I think there might be several issues that you are talking about so I will attempt to just give you some info that might explain it. The "post" that starts a thread as you did originally you can not edit. Only those posts that were done as a reply to a thread can you edit. I think moderators can edit or delete any post. The problem with the duplicate posts seems to be caused by not waiting long enough before doing any other clicking after the first time you click on the post comment button. It can take a bit of time (~15-45 sec.) before the "posting" by the program to finish at times. you can edit double posts and remove everything and just say edited to delete double post if you want, ask a moderator to delete the double posts, or do nothing as most of us realize there is that bug and just accept it :) Hope this helps ____________________________God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.... especially when the cams go down. ![]() |
