Elephant Plains is our only major problem left, although we are still some way off to getting it back - no ETA yet

Thought I should post this, in case someone else is having the same kind of problem. I don't think this is a very common problem but you never know, maybe someone else out there needs to know that this can happen.

First of all, I can watch the cams again and I am SO HAPPY! Smiling

My problems started on the 13th, could see the commercials but no streaming. I spent the next days slowly going mad and checking everything that could possibly be checked on my computer and trying all solutions that are posted here and on the internet. Nothing worked. All I got was connecting... ready... black screen. Again and again. Also couldn't access onenetplace.net which I believe are handling the streaming here?

Finally I contacted my ISP. First they told me it was a problem on their side that should be fixed by Monday. It wasn't. Today I talked to them again and found out that my ISP Telia has a conflict with a company called Cogent that handles internet traffic between my ISP and the US and they have cut my ISP off! How crazy is that?!

I am sure this is why I havent been able to watch the cams as I have switched to a 3G wireless modem from another provider and it works just fine. Very happy here. Smiling

Maybe this information can be useful to someone, but I hope it is a very rare problem because trying to figure out what is wrong is very likely to drive a person insane, LOL. I think I'm OK now, though. Eye-wink

Hello everyone,

The direct link to the stream circumvents the advertising, which means that Africam loses its primary revenue source.

Therefore, the link should not be used or get posted on the Boma.

Thank you!

No problem Accola, glad to be of help.  For WMP, you need to go to File and Open URL, paste the link in there and voila.  It works great for me and nice clear pic today.

Welcome to your new addiction!

Thank you Flower,

The first 2 links work great and I bookmarked them. I couldn't get the 3rd one to work but that is because I don't know how to link to my WMP.  I know how to put music on it but that's about it .

Thanks for your help and my 2 new bookmarks as I hate using IE anymore.

Accola

Thank you Tourneyman1, and I agree, information from my ISP a lot earlier would have saved me days of checking for virus and malware, turning off/on things on my computer, scanning this site and the internet for information and different solutions to similar problems, deleting and reloading programs, plugging/unplugging things and so on... I think I did everything except pick the computer apart in little pieces with my own hands. That would have been my next step. Eye-wink

I sincerely hope noone else ever has this problem and that if they do, their ISP is a lot faster than mine when it comes to providing information to their customers.

Hi Accola and Welcome to Africam and the Boma. I use Firefox and have no trouble with either NK or EP, unless the cams are down for technical or power reasons. These are the links I use:

NK - http://www.africam.com/player/bbe_player.php

EP - http://www.africam.com/player/bbe_player_ep.php

Hope that helps and happy camming!

Flower

Hi,

For some reason, I can't get live stream video from NK or EP on my Mozilla Firefox browser, but I can get the live streams on my Internet Exporer browser. Firefox worked this morning but not now. I think it has to do with the VTT advertising.com video network playlist that is presently playing before the live streams come up on my IE.

I prefer to use Firefox so I can tab Africam and keep it on while I check other sites such as the Forums here and have EP and NK on at the same time. If anyone knows of a way to unblock this advetisment on Firefox, please let me know.

Thank you

Thanks for passing that info along.  It is a shame that the ISP didn't let its customers know since many I am sure have wasted a lot of time and possibly made wrong changes to their pc in attempts to find the problem with the cams.  Glad to hear that it is working for you again.
