Ok, I don't know how to post a screen shot, but when I pull up Africam.com I can see the intro video with no problem, but then the actual Live feed is a bunch of pshycadelic colors!  I can hear it with no problems, and sometimes even make out a bright orange monkey or a pink elephant, but it's very strange.  Any tips?

Hello MamaSmith,

what version of windows media player are you using ?

often problems are solved by uninstalling wmp and installing the latest version of wmp.

if you already have the latest version of wmp maybe this link can help you out :

The vid cams were working wonderfully for me until last nite and today.   It ' connects'....then says " ready" but all I have is a black screen and no sound.    My media player is up to date and everything.

I hope it's not something on my end...just a camera/media link messed up.    Like I said, it's been working working GREAT but I now can't get NK, EP or even the " what you missed this AM".

If you're getting pink elephants....WOW!!!Laughing

Same thing for me, LuluBelle!

It happened three days ago and since then I haven't been able to see NK,EP,or What you missed.

I have tried everything, even turning my firewall off. Nothing seems to work.

If you find an answer to our problem, please let me know. I'll do the same if a miracle happens.

Whew!!    Glad to know I'm not the only one.   I was starting to get a complex!Cry

I'm wondering if it's a router or something as I'm in the US also.    But my neighbor next door , she can access the cam fine but we have different IT providers and that could be the clue.

It IS frustrating as this place is addictive...makes ya want to toss the ' puter out the window!!    Hope someway somehow it gets fixed by someone somewhere.

There have been problems at the africam side of the cameras or other transmission problems in the routing but it seems that when it is working properly for many some are still having problems.  I am wondering if your isp is doing something to lower your high use of the broadband?  I had heard of something about that in the recent past.  The problem seems to be less with what browser or media player version since I also use WMP ver 11 and some with that version have problems.  The data transfer rate is something that has been noticed to be low at times which would effect the cam performance.  Many times for myself it takes a refresh or reboot to correct things.  Something else to check is can you view other cam sites that are using the browser for playing a windows media file?  If you are able to, for example view the djuma drives without problem then it is something at africam or in the routing from africam to you not your set up since djuma uses your wmp via the browser to view it.  Hope that is understandable as to what I mean to say and might help.

Instinct is telling me router.ISP issues.   I am able to view other cam sites with no problem as that was the first thing I thought of myself.

What strikes me as odd is that it's worked WONDERFULLY all this time that I've been watching ( about 2 wks now) and now WHAM, all is gone.   I sure hate that I can't keep up with what's going on, but what will be....will be I suppose and the Internet Gods are in charge of this deal.Yell

I'll keep checking back and hoping for the best.Smile

Oh I thought it was just me having problems with the streaming cams.Everything mentioned is happening to me. My WM 10 now WM11 as I updated it again since WM10 was still buffering last night my time. My connection to view the Nkorho cam keeps decreasing (when I right click cam looking in Statistics) and slowing the cam and freezing it also. I wish they would fix it. Africam is a great site and well worth watching the cams so I hope we get to view them better than we have been soon.

I am sick of all the buffering and freezing I am getting watching Nkorho. It used to work wonderfully for me and now ever since the update of the site I think,it starts buffering after only 13 seconds. I am seriously thinking of not even bothering anymore with watching as most of the time I cannot watch it anyway. My connection speed will not allow me to watch Nkorho but other cams from other sites I have no problem with my broadband. Wavelit worked for a while no it won't.

Hi All, Sometimes we miss the obvious when answering questions so try this. I don't have a techie answer since you all seem different, but this is what I do. I use 3 separate internet connections to get forums, NK and EP. There are other ways to do this, but it works for me. Hope it helps.

Bring up the home page. To the lower right of the intro video is a golden brown banner: Choose your Safari

1) Click the green NKORHO PAN button. You should now have NK.

2) If you want EP, start another internet connection and repeat but choose Elephant Plains this time.

3) If you want Forums, start another internet connection and choose Forums.

Once you get a good connection, it is easier to add the links to your Favorites. If you've done this already then it's a good guess it is your ISP or pc. Sorry. Good Luck!!

WOW be patient! If it happens to you most likely it has happened to everyone at some point or another. Just because you can watch 1 cam it doesnt mean you can watch another. Think about each place uses different equipment. Not everybody has the technology as the next person. No need to get so mad and not enjoy what you really like doing...you will click on 1 day and have the best connection. Goodness gracious its only a cam, Be patient

blueeyedlibra sorry for getting impatient last night. I have just lost my Dad a few weeks ago and things are getting to me. He used to love watching Nkorho cam with me and not being able to see it recently has upset me. I did not mean to offend anyone. Phoenix pmed me with instructions for better viewing and it has helped alot.

Thank you blueeyedlibra for your kindness. I love watching the animals and birds on the live streaming cams here. It gets daylight on Nkorho cam about 4pm NZ time so I have a while to wait for that each day,but seeing the birds and animals on the night cam is very exciting as well and I especially love that there is audio on them as so many live streaming animal/birds cams do not give viewers the opportunity to hear the animals/birds as well as view them.

Is there any fixes to this that anyone can direct me too? My stepson gave me his old computer which was suppose to be a much BETTER computer with more memory and better vid card (used this pc for gamming). He reinstalled WXP without the #'s to validate so I can't DL WMP 11. Can I take WXP off my old tower or can I take just the WMP file off my old computer so I can watch this. I'm getting a perfect picture of the intro but when it comes to the live streaming its like it is mentioned above with all the pretty colors.

Thanks Deb

PS

Can anyone pm me the links to the other sites like Wild Earth and the other forum my-africa.

Lisa, so sorry to hear of your loss..  My heart breaks for you..Know that you are loved and he is with you in spirit.. I have lost my brother and love of my life to cancer but I go on because that's what they both wanted me to do in memory of them..I would not be here today if it was not for God, for His grace and mercy over me, my family and friends.  I don't know where you are spiritually so please don't be offended.  I will lift you up in my prayers now.. Keep in touch.  Cams go down for me too and yes it's very frustrating but it happens..Bless you sweetheart..
