Hi Lost.  Most people in here refer to any unidentified antelope as "bokkie".  It's hard at nighttime to tell one from another.

Thanks for letting me know.  Shucks, I have trouble telling the difference in the daylight.

No problem Lost, just ask anything, lots of friendly people here ready to help.  For information on the various animals you see at the waterhole, click here.  Hope to see you in the daily Waterhole chat and Campfire chat threads.

Hi Lost,

The term "bokkie" is a lovely South African word. Used as a term of endearment it can be applied to either sex, and literally translated it means 'little buck', or 'little deer'. The English equivalent is 'sweetheart', and,  as Jan said , it's used as a general term for any unidentified antelope we might see.

Welcome to The Africam Boma! Smiling
