Our Hippo is still enjoying its bath at 3.03 am at NK

Started it at 1,27 am    Cool Turning on its side also, I think because the waterlevel is not high enough to cover its body completely.

The Burchell's Coucal can be heard and other birds starting this morning by calling.

This is my first post.  I took a small video clip of the hippo meeting the rhinos.  I was talking to my mom on the phone at the same time, so please excuse the voice.

This is also my first video.

Bravo Mary!  Well done first post :)  I had missed that encounter.  And I enjoyed your voice over also.

Interesting that the Hippo is inside the reflection of the Marula tree.  I wonder if that's intentional, for better camoflauge?

Thanks!  I have been watching Africam for almost a year and finally decided to sign up.  I'm so enjoying this.

I wonder how long the hippo will stay there.

Sometimes, a Hippo has spent the night in the water.  Not frequently, but, sometimes.

Welcome and have fun.  Check out the two chat threads for getting acquainted with the Bomites.  One is the Cam Chat and the other is the Campfire Chat.  Each starts a new day at midnight CAT.

Morning Sagresta what was the animal calling a few minutes ago?  Do you think the Hippo is in any danger?

Hi CallieG

It were Black backed Jackals calling at NK.

Do not think that is anything that can chase or bring our bathing Hippo in danger.

A hippo can bite a man in two.   You've got to be pretty formidable to take one down.   On TV programs I've seen groups of hyenas and lions attack them, but they are mighty creatures.   Speaking of which, he's back.

That was so great. I have been watching this cam from New Zealand for years now and it's the very first time I have seen a Hippo. I think there were two babies with it so maybe it was a female Hippo. I love this cam.
