Now we have to find out what it is   Eye-wink

that is what I thought also.  I know when one passed under the cam several days ago I noticed the difference. Not a Jackal, not a Hyeana ..I just saw the big ears and a busy tail it happened so fast.  And I did not get a snap :-(

Ater looking at photos of the Aardwolf, I am almost certain that a couple times tonight ( and several days ago when I saw it close up )  when I was hesitant to call Hyeana, I was seeing an Aardwolf.  I will post a question to the Lodge and see if it is possible that is what I saw.  they should be able to tell if they check the spoor before all the grazers come in around the WH in the am.  Hey, it is possible Smiling

Lol SD!

I'm puzzled by that dark hyaena. He can't be wet all the time? I don't think there are Aardwolf around here?

OMG ..I never thought of that !!! but it did have the shape. I asked Josh once before and they said none had been spotted . But it is a possibility !

Aardwolf is much smaller then Hyaena and we are compairing this one as to be larger then Hyaena or a large Hyaena.

Alos not specialy a meat eater but insects like termites.

The "strange one" that I have seen tonight was not necessarily larger than a Hyeana, in fact it looked small.  but shorter, not as long and had a bushy tail. Several nights ago I saw one run in front of the cam and all I noticed was the bushy tail and larger ears.  Maybe we are talking about different sightings

SD, the big bang sounded like it was closer to the lodge. Sounded to me like someone putting a lid on a trash can. Smile

Yes, and not dark - a pale colour with black stripes....
