Thanks Sag.

Keep an ear out at EP to help identify the bird (?) that is making a sort of squawking/rattling repetitive sound, that so far no one has identified (and I don't think anyone has recorded yet either).

Hyenas are at it again at NK.  Just heard "whoop" and the lowing sound as well.

Ok folks someone must have seen the little fox like critter in the log at the left side of the waterhole.  He is nesting in the hole.  Does anyone know what he is?  Please say you saw him this time.

Nothing to be seen right now at NK,  there have been maybe 20 impala for the last 20-30 minutes at EP.

Despite the fact that not much is around NK.....there has been some really nice cam work this AM.   Close ups of the pan so we could see little terrapin noses peeking out of the water,   close ups of some winged and colorful insect in the grass,  and a nice leisurely cam walkabout.   Well done!!

If he is nesting in a log it is probably a genet, either the small spotted or the large spotted genet as that is their behaviour, a jackal uses a termite mound as a den and the jackal is the only fox like creature in that area.

I have watched NK for awhile but just started watching EP.  Does the camera in EP move around at all or is it a fixed view?

Callie, I'm pretty sure it is just part of the log and not a live critter. Does look like a little fox but it is just wood. Smiling

Aw, I haven't been able to view much or post as my computer got wonky. Nice to sort of catch up here though. I am still waiting for those lions to come check in on their turf at NK. Tongue out Oh well, now it's time to go to bed. Sad

Randy I made a video but can't post it.

Janine I looked up the Genet.  That is not it.  It really does look like a tiny fox or baby jackel????

I think I found a picture of him.  I think he is a Black Backed Jackel pup.  He is curled up in that space in the log.  So you just see his beautiful little face.  I guess the Mother hides him there for safety while she does whatever she has to do.  It would be nice if the cam operator saw him so they could stay longer at the log.  Maybe next time.

Here is the URL where I found the picture.

Well hopefully you can see it.

I could be a jackal pup hiding out during the day while the parents are out foraging

Cam is down now ...but before between 10.30-11.30 there were impala rams around and three warthogs ...Good camera work too ...

The birds at the pics lady's Mom posted before look like Red breasted Swallows ...The starling is a Burchell's starling

fine looking warthogs at NK    All sleek and shiney.  I did not know that they drank water by "chomping" at it  instead of lapping it up.  hmmm

I missed watching the warthogs chomping at the water, lol.  It is very interesting to see impala almost in line formation as they graze in front of the Lodge.
