3 Raffies at NK. Looks to be a family with one juvenile? And the juvenile Raffie is again checking out the ground. Perhaps, after all, the youngster is eating the parent's droppings? __________________

Did anyone see the big mark on the giraffes neck that the zoomie caught? Any ideas as to what the cause may be? __________________

Did anyone see the big mark on the giraffes neck that the zoomie caught? Any ideas as to what the cause may be? The Males fight by slinging the heads and necks at each other, more than likely it is scar from one such fight. They can get pretty viloent at times

Here is a link I just found that has some pretty strange facts about Giraffe and same sex relationships between the males. It is Wikipedia tho, and I usualy dig a little deeper to check their facts LOL

Was that Francolins or Hornbills Zoomie just passed ? Missed it. The birds can be most difficult to spot. Edited to add: What birds are we hearing at this moment? (at NK) __________________

There's no mistaking the Hadeda Ibis (sp?) right now at NK. And the Cape Turtle Dove (for me that one always sounds like Good Mor-ning, Good Mor-ning). We will have to study the Sounds of Nkorho (click here) to prepare for the next annual Birding Walk with Karin and Gerda and Katja (they're working on it). __________________

3 young Wildbeest at NK spotted safe and sound this afternoon at 6:50 CAT

The Wildies at NK were moving so fast just now. Walked to the WH for a drink, were startled, and moved on quickly. At one point however I think I saw a new baby Wildie. One in the mix looked much smaller than the ones we've been seeing all along. __________________

I did get a snap of the 3 out in the field ..I did not see the young ones come to the WH

Right, the youngsters didn't approach the water. Looking at that snap, it's the calf on the far left with its mom that I think is new and not one of the four we've been watching. I could be wrong, of course, but, that one is quite a bit smaller than the two calves that are in the background. And, being in the background, those two would appear smaller if they were the same size, no? __________________
