following the Mapogo Pride

Auntie Lyn thought it would be a good idea to have one thread where all information regarding the Mapogo Pride aka Mapogo Mafia could be gathered. Please add your findings here and we can keep track of this impressive coalition.

edited by Katja to add:

Please post only information and questions about the Mapogo Pride in this topic.

Chat and other off topic posts will be moved to another forum or deleted.

Elephants vs humans

"When I see one of those animals, I just know it wants to kill me."

By Robyn Dixon Reporting from Katubya, Zambia - Here's how to pitch this (true) story to Hollywood:

Ordinary guy named John, ordinary Sunday, cycling home into a setting sun. Monster roars out of the bushes! John abandons his bike, flees in terror.

Injured animals

At  the Nkorho Pan there was a giraffe with a injured back leg. It looked like it was broken. Is anything done to help or is it left to nature take its course?

Why does a flamingo stand on one leg?

Everyone always asks, "why does a flamingo stand on one leg?"

Riding a moose

Only a boasting young man in northern Finland can do this! The young moose survived to the shore. But this was brutally against animal rights. Nothing against law happened, said policemen. They tell in the paper also that already at 16th-17th centuryIn Sweden it tried to use moose as postal carrier but moose  had the lack of persistence.

This happens everywhere!

This is about the bears I told on waterhole chat last saturday. The mother bear was defending her cubs attacting on a jogger who is ok, but the bears were shot still they were escaping to the woods. Later policemen told that they didn´t have  any general anesthetic and the shooting was the only alternative. This has caused a lot of discussion, not for the first time, I suppose that there will not happen any changes in the attitudes for a long.
