The Daily Watering Hole Chat Vs. Sightings threads.

I'm begging on bended knees Bomites. Please, please put sightings discussions in the daily Sightings Disc. thread. Please. Pretty please. The whole reason for the new chat thread was to clear out the sightings discussion and not co-mingle daily chat with daily sightings discussions.

Confusing, yes, I agree. But now we're back in the same boat of wading through the daily chat thread to read about the water hole happenings and it defeats the entire purpose.

And yes I know there is the daily sightings list and cam pics to review, but, it isn't the same as reading what has been happening at the WH because those threads don't allow discussions of the sightings, thoughts and observations on the critters and their going's on.

Give an old lady a break please and return to the Daily Water Hole Sightings Discussions for critter chat.

There have been some really great discussions on that thread in the past, and we all learn something from them

And, an awful lot that has been observed but not discussed in the sightings thread can be missed. So thank you Keekee and Ingwe :) Only this morning (Friday afternoon June 22) I read the Sightings discussion to see what had happened while I slept, and, thought I had read it all.

Then I accidentlally found myself in the chat thread and saw that there was some wonderful bird activity as well as Impala sighting and Zebra (the injured one) sighting that hadn't been mentioned at all in the Sightings thread :(

I will in my appreciation of all Nkhoro is for me renew my efforts to open the Discussion forum when a sighting is going on and add comments to it.

I really don't have the knowledge to add information so can only add comments.

Thanks KeeKee!

I was here the night the Waterhole Chat was born and am so happy to have a place to mix the NK chat with plain ole how ya doing chat.

While I was hoping it would lighten up the mods load on deleting post I like SD noticed the Discussion forum has been kinda left in the dust.

I will in my appreciation of all Nkhoro is for me renew my efforts to open the Discussion forum when a sighting is going on and add comments to it.
It's really pretty easy just right click on the Waterhole link and open in new window.
I really don't have the knowledge to add information so can only add comments.

they (the Moderators) have made the Boma so complicated

Hi Belladonna, I have been posting here since October. Yes there have been a few changes, however, only because users have voiced the need for these changes. When I first joined, there was a cam discussions thread and campfire thread. I was an avid user of the cam discussions thread at that time. We (the users), at least some of us, had a habit of going off-topic when things were on the slow side, or one related question lead to an un-related question. Some other users did not appreciate the off-topic conversations. The campfire pages began to fill more and the cam discussions were reserved for topic-matter only.

As time went on, around the time of the "Christmas Lions", still quite some time before your "joined date" of March 2007, the off-topic conversations started to pick-up again in the cam discussions thread. It was re-named and the rules were re-iterated about using the campfire but it was very difficult to jump back and forth when a conversation was initiated in the newly named watering hole thread. The Moderators were only trying to keep everyone happy. The ones that complained that their posts were being deleted, were followed by the ones that complained that they had to read through all the chit-chat just to find out what happened at the water hole.

How do you please both?

Make 2 threads? I don't know, but it seems to be working for most. I like to have an open-mind and at least give it a go :D There are great people through-out this Boma and I'm happy to have the opportunity to chat, question or comment with all.

So please don't blame the moderators, it is my opinion that they are trying to make this a happy meeting place for everyone to enjoy. The scenery is great, the sounds are incredible and the opportunity to share this is amazing. I hope you are not discouraged by the rules and take some time to get to know these fantastic users. Cheers :D

Thanks Ingwe. Thanks! Not my intention to imply the chat thread should be dropped or that moderators did anything to harm the boards. Just wanted to point out that the Sightings Discussion threads were dying and ask folks to bring it back to life with sightings discussions (not chat) :)

The Moderators did not complicate the Boma. The Waterhole Chat thread was started by Cammers who felt they needed somewhere to chat when there was nothing happening on the cam to talk about.

We (The Moderators) do not do things for no reason, and we allowed this to continue because it seemed that was what the majority of our members wanted. On an average day, 20 plus pages of chat were being deleted. That's a lot of chat, and unless someone can come up with a better system than democracy, we go with the majority.

I agree with Sd's request that our members make more use of the Nkorho sightings/discussion thread, and encourage you all to do so.

If anyone is unsure about where to post, please pm a Moderator and ask, or post on the Boma and someone will help you. :)

Thank you.

The 'simple' fact is that they (the Moderators) have made the Boma so complicated that we (the Users) have difficulty at times, in understanding 'where to post What'! as the 'Boma rules' keep changing - and as the Mods keep adding new forums, sub-forums, topics and yet more 'rules'.

The very fact that you have posted a plea for the Bomites to keep it simple says it all. :?: :?: :?:
