Hi Hanneke and thanks for starting the new day threads.  Hope you get a good nights sleep.  Hope the new day again brings lots of great sights and sounds to the waterholes.  Good camming all.

Hello all. Hanneke, you do a great service for all of us. The new days are always on time and make me smile. The capture of the mongooses by Noblos is a special one. He posted it, but to save you the time I'm posting it here. I saw it live but had not noticed they have a den under that bush. Maybe some babies will come to visit Smiling.

thanks for posting the mongoose video noblos.  I am curious as to what they were doing after drinking and went back to the mound.  It looked like they sort of pressed their body into the ground.. is that a way to dry themselves or some sort of sent marking?  I hope they do make that mound as a home as they would be something added to watch for babies to come Smiling

i think they dry themselves too, that's why i wrote "drinking and bathing", i am wondering if the hole we can clearly see in the video was made by them, do they live in this mound sometimes!!! i hope a ranger can give us more information about this group

BANDED MONGOOSE

Banded mongoose have a close relationship with baboons and are often found in their company. They forage together and probably enjoy greater security as a large group because of more eyes on the lookout for predators. The mongoose are handled by baboons of all ages and show no fear of such contact.

well isnt that interesting

they may have just dug into the mound where

the   micraphones are just recently - ??

the other 4 times i have seen them they come out

of the bush about  150 feet  to the right of the maruala tree

and each time have fed  as far overs  to the left of the road

where the bore hole box is  - we shall have to keep an eye

on the mound now to see if thier using it as a home

that would be great

Did anyone ID the 3+ critters that just passed around the mound? E & T gave then plenty of room.

My guess was lions from the way the geese acted.

Thank you Morris for the clip

OMG, they really look like lions, if we consider that it's very rare to have 3 leopards together and they definitly dont look like cheetahs

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to United Kingdom to put the NFL on display.

patriots - won  35 - 7

first quarter was very confusing as they used an english football

which  we in north america call a soccer ball

players recieveing kick offs didnt  know if they should

catch ball or head it

THANK YOU Morris! You are always on top of things. My guess was Lions, but I was afraid it was wishful thinking. When I noticed E & T moving toward the finger, I was watching to see WHY. Great catch again. Eye-wink

There were some smaller ones at the end by old faithful, and the Styx pride has some young ones.

I just watched your video & saw what looked like 3 or more smaller ones at the end. I thought I had seen more, but wasn't sure how many. How many did you count?

Hello again. Thanks to Morris, I didn't really "miss" the lions. I couldn't find anything on why the mongooses rolled around today. They do roll their prey around if it has spines. I so hope they use the mound as a den.
