Thanks for starting the new day threads Hanneke. Hope the new day brings lots more great sights and sounds at the waterholes. Have a good nights sleep Hanneke. Sounds like a hyena whooping nearby at NK. Good camming all.

Okay, T-man, now I can say hi to you! I was waiting for the switch over to make sure you'd see this. We're usually like two ships passing in the night!
For those of you who don't have the tweep, or didn't see the Friday thread, the four cheetahs came back to NK about 11:30 p.m. CAT.
Hi, just here for a minute. Looks like a storm might be on it's way at NK. Did I just miss kitties?
ETA: Oh well, if I did, I'm not exactly surprised. lol Gotta go. See you all at SA dawn, I hope.

Hi everyone!!
What is the noise (nk) behind the scenes that sounded like hoofs and a struggle...?????
the cheetah males will hang around together and
find a female in heat and take turns brreding her
here is some info
the impact of multiple matings on genetic variation
Social Habits, Mating Habits and Reproduction
Cheetahs are mostly solitary animals with the exception that some males may live in small groups. Cheetahs can mate at any time during the year, and males and females will mate with different members of the opposite sex during their lifetimes. A male cheetah will not remain with the female after mating. The gestation or pregnancy period will last approximately 3 months, at which time the female will give birth to an average of 3 - 4 cubs, but can have as many as 8 per litter. Many of the cubs will not survive the first few weeks after they are born. During this time they are hunted by lions, hyenas, leopards or other animals while the mother is away hunting. After a period of 5 - 7 weeks, the cubs will begin to follow their mother on hunts.
Hi Barry, I see I missed the cheetahs again.
Sounds like something is near and busy!
I think it was hyena head I saw drinking on upper left corner of NK waterhole just now.

Hi Marsha, I'm curious about those noises, too. I wish we could pan the camera a little to the left to check it out.
not sure at all about the different noises I hear.. some I think are just electrical hum/static/audio distortion stuff.

has there been splashes by the catfish tonight? I hadn't noticed any yet and usually do see some fairly often at night.

good video by the B>B>C
paternity of cheetahs living wild have shown that almost half of all the litters studied were made up of cubs from at least two different fathers.

Hi Sue, Tman and Barry!
The noise was not the cat fish but something busy near the mic. I saw that nose also Tman and thought a hyena drinking too.
Hei, I bet that there are many happy cammers seeing the group of cheetahs again. Really great! I don´t belong to those lucky ones but still I have learned a lot of cheetah´s life during one day !
Bye cerinthe and sleep well.
T-man, I hope an ellie or something didn't squish poor Jackson!
one noise I heard sounded like a bird flapping its wings over by the mic. could have been the hyena sniffing around the brush there stirring up the bird/s too. Too bad they haven't been able to get rid of the hum and other distortions in the audio at NK. EP has a bit of hum now too but not as loud it seems.

Hi katip! I missed the cheetahs also but maybe they are still near.
Hi all. I missed the cheetahs. Left my recorder on, but all i had during the visit was spinning wheels. Sorry!!
May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness Come through your door
with the larger herds of cape buffs, elephants and wildies walking in the waterhole maybe the catfish decided to walk off to another waterhole now that others might be filling again with recent rains.

Hello everyone. Been under the weather today but checked the cams just AFTER the cheetah's visit. Got to see them last night so not all is lost. Morris, don't worry about it. You are waaay in the plus column for captures
Hi all. I missed the cheetahs. Left my recorder on, but all i had during the visit was spinning wheels. Sorry!!
Hi everybody -- Morris, you sure have nothing to apologize for!!! You give us so much with your recordings and we are so fortunate to have you!
Donna, hope you start feeling better soon!
Connie
Bye Tman.
Donna, sorry you are not feeling well, maybe a critter sighting would help.
Hi katip! I missed the cheetahs also but maybe they are still near.
There is a lot of prey for cheetahs around and I think that many animals are careful now.

Hallo all
Welcome at the Boma this Saturday morning.
