We have a break inbetween storms, according to our local radar. So far they've just grazed us, going north and only leaving rain. So I think I'll go for a walkabout in the yard, and see what's going on (besides mosquitos!).

Broom is native to Europe. It was introduced to New Zealand and the Pacific Northwest as a garden or ornamental hedge species. Captain Walter Colquhoun Grant brought seed to Vancouver Island from Hawaii in the 1850s. Grant planted these seed on his 14 hectare estate in Sooke.

I didn't know they were so invasive, Barry. I've always wanted one, and I see them at garden centers all the time, but i think I'll pass. I have enough invasives to deal with already - goldenrod, queen anne's lace, crabapple, etc.
