there are at least 2 good size catfish in there.  It isn't really very deep which I think is why we hear so much splashing.  I guess they are just very lucky not to get killed by the hoofs or just very good at getting out of the way when they sense a hoof coming down from above.  they seem to "walk" to the waterhole when some nearby ponds dry up.  Last year we saw the fish eagle catch one.

That's the first time I've heard the singing. Very cool.

Since I'm on here, I also was wondering about the catfish in the pond. I saw its form beneath the water, and it seems pretty big. It also does a lot of splashing, which also makes it sound big. So I assumed that the pond must be fairly deep. Then I saw some animals wade in, and it can't be more than 4 or 5 feet deep at most. At one point, an entire herd was stomping around in there, and I wondered if it would get squished. So how does such a small pond support such a big fish? Is it the only one in there, or are there more?

Good night Doris, take care.  When you wake in the morning hopefully the cam will be set right for good viewing again.

Hi bsmitty, In the evenings they do have entertainment where we can hear the singing from the lodge.  Sometimes there is some special occasion like a birthday that we also hear singing.

Hey all. I didn't have a chance to comment at the time, but earlier I could hear the nightsounds from the headphones on my desk. When I put them on I could hear singing in the background. A campfire sing-along maybe, off-camera? Pretty cool African singing. Anyone know more?

Hi Doris.  When the critters are scarce it seems the viewers are also scarce lol.  Starting to look like they have gone to bed already at NK.  Was late night partying there last night so probably all very tired.  So we may be stuck with this view till the zoomie wakes up in the morning to reset the cam :(  The good news is hopefully by next week all the cams will be back up and working well again.
