Kru-Kab there sure is a lot of info there will check it out when I can.

O.K. LOL I'm sorry but the exploding rock visual made me laugh. I've done this before when I say bake basically what I do is put it in the oven on very very low barely on heat and let it dry out. Sun isn't bright enough to do anything right now.
I have been debating the bleach, I'm terrified of not getting it all out of the rock, you see it's not salt water but it has a gazillion holes like a sea sponge.
I think the algae would have been gone a long time ago but it was deep in the rock and I couldn't remove it from the tank till the tank was empty so waited till a very old large tinfoil barb died as I didn't think it could take the move.
Thanks for the tip on the sea salt. I couldn't remember which one to use.

just a suggestion on your rock - place a piece of cod on the

rock and bake it ** then you would have rock cod ** we have

them here thier great on the barby Eye-wink

The Rockcod is a bottom species that can be found in both the northern Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

magot jello LOL Weather looks weird here today. Texas has been getting a lot of tornados but not around here. I still have some plants to put in larger containers and am trying to get a 55 gal aquarium free of a green algae that started back before Christmas no treatment did anything but feed the algae so have the tank totally broken down, Probably should throw the big rock out but have had it for over 20 yrs and love it so am going to bake it.
Hi Kee Kee. I just happened to sign on in time to see your post. If you want to save the Rock, Do Not Bake it ! It will propally crack or maybe even explode. Soak it in bleach water and scrub. Rinse very well and allow to dry in the sun. That should kill the Algae. For cleaning the tank ( IF it is empty of fish ) use sea salt on a damp rag. It will clean off the algae and kill it. Also it does not scratch a glass tank or leave bad stuff in your tank. Also to keep algae from taking over make sure your tank does not get too much sunlight or even artificial light for that matter. I no longer have tanks, but I sure do miss the fish ( but not the upkeep Laughing out loud ) Dreamer
