When we milked our cows we also had to pour that milk into a separator and separate the cream from the milk....

i miked 14 cows along with my gradnparents - i would sit on a 3 leg stool and balance on 2 legs put my head against the cow and milk the jersey cow by hand her name was dainty

we finnaly got milk machines when i was 11

ya cream separator was cool to watch the cream separate from the milk

and did ya churn your own butter, and did ya learn to drive on a tractor, and did ya learn how to jump off a barn roof into a mess of hay just for fun...Smiling Well did ya did ya. Orrr go to the local pond for a swim then spend the rest of the day picking leaches off yourself....LOL. Yup that was fun..Smiling

I did do my own butter into the late 80's, drove a tractor and hated to jump out of the hayloft....scared of heights...., and we went to the "crick" for our swim, no leeches but lots of mud between the toes!

I'm in Kitchener Sabine.. so not all that far from you.. You're in Hamilton correct.. My boyfriend used to live there.

Shiela:

1 bag of ocean spray carnberries or other brand your choice

1 cup apple cider

1 cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp of each allspice and nutmeg

and about 1/8 tsp of cloves.

bring this mixture to a boil and then when you hear the cranberries popping for about 2 mins turn down the heat and simmer for about 5 mins.. keep stirring it or it will scortch.. then turn it all off put it in a bowl and leave it sit a couple mins and serve it warm..

BEWARE: YOU'LL WANT TO TAST IT AS IT'S COOKING IT SMELLS SO GOOD.. THE KIDS ALWAYS COME RUNNING INTO THE KITCHEN WHEN I MAKE IT
